It's kind of ironic when an obese person criticizes a smoker, amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
smoking is technically a choice. Eating varies depending on every individuals metabolism
by Anonymous12 years ago
Eating more than what your body needs is also a choice, right?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Your diet and exercise are choices and that's all you need to control your weight.

I wonder who would die first, a lifetime of smoking or a lifetime of obesity.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Obesity. It's the number one killer of people, ahead of smoking related deaths.

That's because there are more obese people than there are smokers. 33% of Americans are obese vs 20% for smokers. It doesn't mean obesity is more unhealthy than smoking.
At least one study found that people who were somewhat overweight (BMI 25-30) were more resilient to heart attacks than people of normal weight, and tend to actually live longer on average.

It would probably depend on how obese the person was.

But obesity doesn't really put anyone in any particular danger, apart from the overweight person in question. Smoking is a habit that usually directly affects other people. And when I say usually I mean very, very often.

That is... until the fat person sits on someone else.

I am doing my college English paper on how second hand smoke is harmful. It causes all kinds of health problems you wouldn't really think of.

It makes me incredibly angry when I see a pregnant woman smoking, or parents in a house with kids smoking. I think it should be considered child abuse.

I have customers at work who come in with newborns in their arms and buy smokes, or they have kids trailing along behind them. One time a little boy asked me not to give them to his mum when she was buying them. It's tragic, really.

I've literally seen women (yeah, this wasn't just on one occasion) open a baby bottle and pour in a Pepsi for their 1 year old, while smoking.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Yeah, but everybody has to look at the fat slob, which is almost as bad.
by Anonymous12 years ago
What's also ironic is when somebody rolls down the window of their hummer 3 to yell at a smoker for polluting the air with noxious second hand smoke.
