+181 It's annoying to have to explain over and over again what anime and manga is to other people. They don't know what it is and it's all new to them, but otakus like us known for years and it's just annoying to tell people now-a-days. amirite?

Anyone who claims they are Otaku, are not.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fuck you, Weeaboo.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What the fuck is a Otaku? Il stick to normal books.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Anyone who claims to be Otaku needs a life, real bad

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I refuse to call myself an otaku because, well, I'm not. But I know what you mean. It's annoying because the easiest way to explain it is by saying "It's japanese cartoons," and that isn't enought of an explaination.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Um, lol, I agree with "Eskimo."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Unless they show an interest in reading/watching some of it. Then I would take all day to explain it!! Some people need to understand that everyone is obsessed with something. And being an otaku is better than being obsessed with food and being obease or something. Besides, we learn educational things, go soul searching, make the most amazing friends we'll ever have, and laugh for years all over one book series. Manga has the most amazing books and series and plot lines I've ever seen.

Somebody's never read an actual book.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes, I have. I have a floor to ceiling bookshelf and only one slat has manga on it. Just because I'm in love with things like Pandora Hearts instead of Harry Potter doesnt mean I havent read a "real" book. Besides, manga is a real book. So please shut your fucking mouth before making know-it-all comments, because you're always going to be wrong.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A) Your assumption that I love Harry Potter is incorrect. B) I've tried reading manga. I couldn't. It's a picture book for older kids, in my opinion. To be honest, I've heard a couple plots and thought, "Hey, if that was in a written form instead of a drawn one, it'd be interesting." C) I'm wondering where the whole "soul-searching" and "educational" stuff comes from, and it's sort of implied that people who read other things don't do that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A) I never said you love Harry Potter B) I've read the "written" form of manga books and they suck. Really badly. The only reason you couldnt read it is because you're not smart enough. It takes some work to learn to read it and most people I talk to say it's too confusing for them. C) I cant think of an educational plot at the moment (I'm sure I will at 3 am, though. :|) but the most meaningful book series I've ever read is Furuba. And it has so many characters and plot twists and hidden characters that a written version wouldnt be able to sustain this plot. And the result of all of these things really make you think about how small a world this really is. And how important your family is, even if your family has no blood conections to you whatsoever. And yes, it is implied that people who read weastern books really dont do that because for the most part, they dont. Most people in the weastern part of the world cant stand reading and those who do read (as I've--

-- mentioned before) cannot gain access to extremely intricate plots such as the ones in manga just because of the insane amount of characters. I know I have trouble sometimes keeping all these characters straight when given a brief decription and a name, rather than a face to match it to.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not smart enough to read manga? No, if I had any desire to, I have no doubt I could comprehend it. However, I dislike the drawing and the whole set up and such. In fact, I did read a series of manga books because one of my friends annoyed me into doing it. I understood the plot just fine, I dislike the format it is presented in. (Actually, I think the plot sucked too, but that's not the point I'm making.) As for the inability to keep plots straight unless you have a face to match it to- okay. If that's what you need to remember something, but please don't assume everyone else does. There are plenty of people who understand intricate plots without pictures.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

hell, if the plot sucks you're gonna hate it no matter what. Do you remember what the series was? No, you dont understand. I have never once heard of or read a weastern book with as many characters as some manga series have, just because most people cannot remember hundreds of characers. And no, Im not exaggerating. I do mean hundreds.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Err...the series was...something called Code Geass? I think. And hundreds of characters? Really? I find it hard to believe that even with drawn faces and such anyone'd be able to keep track of that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've heard of it. Never read it. I think my friend rachel is obsessed with some dude in it. Either that, or it was some dude from Soul Eater. IDK. http://www.leafninja.com/biographies.php 540 characters. I know most of them. About 400, I'd say

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I stand corrected -.-;

by Anonymous 13 years ago

IRK! It's frickin insane.... I've been into Naruto for about four years (even though it's now crap) so I know the major characters (obviously) but the major characters are about 300 people so it gets kinda confusing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wow, I never knew Naruto had so many characters... of course i don't read the mangas, I started with and have stuck with the show. Speaking of which, there's a new episode today. I think I'll go watch. (I agree mangas/animes are great and can do quite a lot of amazing things, but I also know that novels can do just as much, except for the amount of charcaters, because then you have no development. And truthfully you don't get a lot of minor character development in Naruto. Although maybe in the fillers before the shippuuden jump. I skipped about thirty or so of those.)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, I used to watch the anime as well as reading the manga but I just cant take the anime seriously. The lame dialouge plus the retarted faces they make when they get punched.... I just burst out laughing. When a new character comes in an I really want to hear their voice, Ill watch the subbed version on Naruto.com. I dont have the Disney channel so I couldnt watch the anime on TV even if I wanted to. Yeah, Naruto has all those characters and THEN the filler charries. That's another thing I didnt like about the anime. I mean, some fillers were cool (ep 101 pre shippuden) but others are retarted. Like the Sora filler. I mean, WTF?!?! I didnt watch that. Some of my friends did and when they talked about it it sounded really retarded. I did watch some of the funny bits (Naruto, Kiba, Choji, Shino, and Sora getting into a fight and Sora getting hit by Tsunade) on youtube, but that's about it for fillers for me

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh man, the Code Geass manga sucked, no wonder you didn't like it. It was based on an anime, which is much better, but dude, the manga really did suck and the anime isn't the best thing ever in the first place. There are a lot better series out there than that manga.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pff... you say you learn educational things, and you can't even spell "obese" and "western".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sorry, my spelling has always sucked. By educational, I mean historical, not spelling.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Axis Powers Hetalia!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

YES!! That's what I was thinking of!! My social studies grade went WAAAAYYY up when I started reading that!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yup that's all i got to say 'bout that.^

by Anonymous 13 years ago

All weaboos should die

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Otaku is an offensive term. Just say anime is a cartoon and manga is a comic.
