+189 Girls: When you were a kid, you would always try to tell people why it was great to be a girl (i.e "because girls can wear dresses AND pants!") but now since you're older you're like "fuck this period shit and give me a damn penis,", amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's still awesome being a girl/woman, I wouldn't want to trade it against being a guy for anything :)

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'll tell you a secret... so can we.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

yah but it takes more effort.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It does x_x but then again, we can play with our boobs. All. Day. Long.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

touche.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The feel of fat boobs and real boobs with mammary glands is a world of difference. I was a fat kid. I know.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'll give you a penis hello

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Sweet. I'll bring the knife.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

hehe Nice one.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Clever girl.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I've always thought being a boy was better. Still do.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Especially since the former argument isn't exactly true to cross-dressers.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Quite the reverse for me, actually. I grew up in a very "boys can do anything but girls must be protected" type of upbringing. My brothers got to do pretty much everything but I was a delicate flower that needed protection, apparently. So my brother would come home from riding dirt bikes or camping out with his friends and say to me, "Don't you wish you were a boy?" And I did. I cannot begin to describe the fucking complexes I developed.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I know that feeling. I hate it so much. I know for a fact that I won't bring up my kids like that.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My culture is really traditional, plus my parents are kind of old, so I grew up being told that I should always "act like a girl." To this day, when guests come over I'm not even allowed to hang out with my cousins like my brothers are. I have to be in the kitchen, help with cooking/cleaning, and serve everyone. I always got more chores because I was the girl. It's so annoying.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

@LittleRed you have just described my life. My parents are from Africa and have this really traditional and sexist view of how girls are supposed to act, it drives me CRAZY.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My parents are from Africa too. Actually I just got done with serving snacks to my parents and brother while they watched the Olympics.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Haha, I only serve snacks for my parents... maybe sometimes for my brothers if I'm feeling generous. It's weird that that sort of thing is not only socially acceptable in Africa, but **expected** if you are a woman or a girl.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Haha sometimes I refuse to serve my brothers too, especially because they just love the fact that my parents will take their side if they boss me around. I just had to get him ice cream this time though so it wasn't a big deal. Half the time the people won't even ask for anything or they'll even deny wanting it, and my parents just insist on me getting it for them. I even got in trouble once for not getting my cousin a beer because he insisted several times that he didn't want to drink. Apparently I was being lazy and ungrateful.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh gosh, if I had a dollar for every time I have been called lazy and ungrateful by my mother... When guest come over to our house my mom will make me get them like 8 different drinks and 4 different snacks when all they wanted was water. When aunties and uncles come over it's the worst. My mom will make me cater to my little cousins' every wishes while my brothers act all smug because they don't have to do anything. I feel great letting all this out, almost all friends don't understand because they're white.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

In my house (our situation used to be similar to LittleRed's) if you want something you do it yourself. I do my own laundry, use my allowance to buy the snacks and food i want, and serve my own food. The only exception is that my mom cooks but we switch around sometimes.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Awesomeness, what do your patents say if you protest to this treatment?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My dad is pretty chill so he understands a little, but he still says I should learn to do these chores for when I'm older. My mom on the other hand tells to me all the time about how I need to learn at a young age (I turned 14 two months ago) how to cook and clean and serve for my future husband.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Damn that sucks :/ My parents are like that, but not to that extreme. They used to, though. I'm not sure what really convinced them. They just sorta stopped one day. Do your parents plan on getting you an arranged marriage around the age of 25ish?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

MissAwesomeness: Yeah my mom says that because I'm a girl that I'll need to learn this stuff for when I move out and have to serve guests. I know she expects me to serve my husband too, but she doesn't usually say it outright.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

@mchalla3 No my parents aren't planning an arranged marriage, at least I don't think so. But I can tell they REALLY want me to marry someone African.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My mom really wants me to marry an Indian, I can tell that for sure. LittleRed, your comment reminded me of this one TV show I watched on TLC a month ago. It's called four weddings. One of the brides, at the beginning of the show, said that she felt it was her duty and honor to serve and care for her husband. They then cut to a shot of her handing him a fancy drink while he was sitting on a reclining sofa. She was wearing an apron and smiling. Then she started to massage his back, and he started to smile. When she walked away, he was like "Wow, I could get used to this!" Something about the way he said that made me think that he thinks of her as a servant, and doesn't really love her. It made me so angry.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My dad doesn't really care who I marry (nationality-wise), but my mom said I have to marry another Eritrean. I know the question wasn't directed to me but I thought I'd add my two cents.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It was directed at both of you XD

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't mind my period. I love being a girl, it's awesome. I have no desire whatsoever to be male, and I don't have any desire to join male-oriented activities like sports or video games.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I love being a girl, and I can be very 'girly' aswell, but I love playing video games and sports just as much as I love wearing dresses and high heels. Games and sports aren't just for boys :P

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Totally true!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I was so lucky that I was brought up with brothers & allowed to join them in all their activities. I really loved being a tomboy, & puberty hit me pretty hard. So would I rather be a boy? Education: I feel that puberty is a huge distraction for boys, & consequently we end up being better educated than boys. I breezed through university & medical college, & hold a well-paid, & well respected position. Girls win. Children: I was lucky to go through both pregnancies with very few problems, & I think motherhood is the most rewarding experience any human could have. Girls win. Menstruation: Yes, some girls have problems, I know. But I was lucky enough not to suffer with excessive period pains, I spent most of my younger life on the pill & didn’t menstruate, & periods stop anyway in your forties. Necessary evil if you want kids, & avoidable if you don’t. Boys win sorta. Social interaction: I have many friends of both sexes, & feel that we can share more close friendships than guys, who always seem to have to compete with each other, rather than being able to chill out & enjoy each other’s company. Girls win. Sex: Girls have stronger orgasms than guys. Girls can have more orgasms than guys, both overall & in a single session. We do not have to worry about premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, having too small a penis, having too big a penis, & we don’t have to worry about our delicate testicles hanging exposed in a thin bag of skin between our legs, vulnerable to injury from irate females, young children, dogs, fights with other guys, table tops, etc. on top of all this, guys have to try so much harder to find a sexual partner than we do. They can pee standing up: big deal! Girls win. Lifespan: We live longer than guys. We suffer less illness than guys. We aren’t expected to go to fight during wartime. Girls win. So, would I rather be a boy? Nah!
