-222 Practicing homosexuality is not a trait a person is born with, you don't see a 10 year old talking with a fake gay lisp. amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You aren't going to start seeing pronounced differences in kids until they hit puberty.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You can't exactly be born "practicing" homosexuality...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why would anyone choose a lifestyle that they get ridiculed, mocked, treated differently or even disowned for? Why would anyone choose that fight for their happiness and acceptance?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Because its their choice, and whatever you say can't change said choice?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's as much of a choice as you choosing to be black. Also your sentence doesn't make sense

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I didn't have a choice to be black. Everybody has made that choice: if they want to stay straight or not. They have chosen not to. You and I, chose to stay strait.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm interested to know when you made this choice to be straight. Because I'm straight, but I can tell you I sure as hell don't remember making a decision to be.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You did not choose to be straight, you've been straight since before you even knew what sexual orientation is. Think back to how young you were when you had your first crush. You didn't know what "gay" or "straight" was back then, and you definitely didn't have the kind of emotional and intellectual maturity to make any kind of choice between them. It just so happened that you grew up to be straight. The same thing happens with gays.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I personally would rather be a river than a strait. But that's just me.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Unless you've personally made the choice to be gay, you have no room to talk.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Have you?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nope. I didn't choose to like girls. I just happen to be attracted to girls by no fault of my own.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So they would rather kill themselves than become straight. Are you retarded?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Being gay is not something you are born with. It's something you develop based on the environment you grew up in. That's like saying you're born with opinions on abortion or religion.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I didn't mean that they CHOOSE to be gay, but they are not born with it

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's possible that orientation doesn't get set until sometime after birth, but the comparison to abortion or religion was a bad one, because a person has responsibility in choosing their views on abortion and religion, and those views can change over time (I think all of us have at least one different political opinion now than we used to). Besides for a few isolated cases of minsters claimed they've "cured" gays of their queerness, there's no such thing as changing one's sexual orientation.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, the comparison was merely for the beginning of life and doesn't apply to later years because then they can get very different. I was just making the point that physical traits are the only thing one is born with, everything relating to behavior or opinion is affected by their life.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Being gay in not an opinion is a sexual trait.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That people learn and do not acquire from their parents.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Right because having a sex drive is something you are taught. It's not like all animals have an inherent desire to mate and reproduce or anything.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not like you go to school and learn it, you develop it over time. You don't learn behaavior.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Homosexuality is not just a behavior thing. it's a deep emotional thing. You can't control who you are sexually attracted to.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*sigh*, first I'd like to just say I'm not against gay rights, just to be sure we're clear. Next, being a biology student and having taken genetics courses, I know for a fact that homosexuality is not a genetic trait and therefore one is not born with it. If one is not born with it, one must acquire it through experience. One does not control who they are sexually attracted to, but it is not decided at birth. It is developed through their environment and is a learned behavior, however little control they may have over it. I was never saying that it was a decision, just that it is not something anyone is born with. Sorry for the long comment, but I felt like we were having two different conversations.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Homosexuals are said to be born with chemical differences in the brain that cause them to 'want' more of their own hormone, (whether it be estrogen or testosterone) and be romantically interested in their own gender. So, it really isn't a chosen practice

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've read that the more older brother's you have the likelier you are to be gay (if you're a guy) because with every male child the mother builds stronger immunity to all the proteins that flood her body so she is able to suppress more of it and the boy is born with less than he otherwise would have. I don't know how true it is, but it's a theory. http://articles.latimes.com/2006/jun/27/science/sci-brothers27 That study is from 2006 so it isn't as recent as would be appreciated but I figure it'd be nice to actually link to what I'm talking about instead of people wondering whether I made it up or not.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That study still holds up, but it is only some women. Some women are basically allergic to testosterone and treat the male fetus like a foreign object.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You also don't see a 10 year old with a deep man's voice, so I guess it's a choice when your vocal pitch drops too.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

When I was 15 i was so sick of trying to remember how long the month was I decided bleeding from my vagina once a month would be a super way to keep track.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, you're an idiot.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Is this topic ever going to end. No ones life is affected by this other than the person it's applied to. If it's because of your religious beliefs then go live on your high horse where you pick and choose religious teachings to fit your personal prejudices and let everyone live their lives in peace. If you happen to not believe religion and still think it's something to be abhorred...then I can't help you because anyone who took the time to look would notice that homosexuality occurs in nature across many different species, so obviously it's not just humans "deciding to be gay."

by Anonymous 12 years ago

nope. come on thats such a stupid comment: i had my first crush on a baby sitter when I was 4. children/toddlers/ babies are born homo/hetrosexual. But those are not exhibited as sexual tendencies until puberty. Thats like saying I, as a hetrosexual, choose when i was 13 to like boys. which is frankly the sillliest thing i have ever heard.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You clearly haven't been out in the world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHxwOU_yCuM That is all.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What did that have to do with anything?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're telling me you didn't detect even a hint of a 'fake gay lisp' there?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh, duh... I was just too disturbed with the singing to realize there was any connection.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'll go with that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I had a crush on another girl when I was in pre-primary, but it wasn't a sexual attraction because I didn't have sexual feelings when I was that young.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Im sure it was a friendship!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, it was a crush.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sure it was.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Are you saying you know how a person felt better than they would know?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think it's hilarious how all these gay people believe in a science experiment that hasn't even been PROVEN. IT CRACKS ME UP. YET IT'S RIDICULOUS IF SOMEONE BELIEVES IN GOD BECAUSE HE HASN'T BEEN PROVEN TO EXIST. Your genetic homosexuality is fake! It cracks me up how hypocritical you guys are.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It hasn't yet been proven, but lots of research has already been done and we're well on our way to forming a theory of how sexual orientation develops. Compare that to the "theory" of God, for which there is still 0 proof, evidence, or reason to believe that it may be true.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

THEORY! There is more proof of the existence of God. You're pathetic. Gay genetics is like global warming. It's made up. They want funding. Also they want gays to be more accepted by blaming it on genes. The studies show that slightly more than 50% of men who were tested had the "gene." Why are tere so many unaccounted for? It's to make faggots happy. Maybe if they had more faith in some kind of religion they wouldn't be such disgusting faggots.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sorry for making the mistake that you were someone worth responding to.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I will admit that I was a bit harsh. Faggot was an innapropriate comment. Amirite has changed my opinion on homosexuals in a very negative way. It's a shame!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Im sure you think Darwin was a bright fella, amirite? Well what happened to the get tough or die? It's not like gays can reproduce, so how are there still gay people around? When will the gays go extinct?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There's scientific studies on this, some people have a genetic predisposition to being homosexual, but are not homosexual because of environmental factors. These people also have an abnormally high amount of opposite sex partners, so they pass on their genetic predisposition. In the end it's a combination of environmental factors and genetics that determine sexuality.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Stop blaming it on genetics if it's not. IT'S NOT PROVEN. The studies actually say environmental and genetic. That's ridiculous. You can't even use that as a valid argument.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Im sorry but how do expalin animals that are homosexual (they are common in nature). so did a gay goldfish also decide to be gay?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Animals operate on pure instinct. Everything for them is survival and reproducing. Human beings are one of the only species to have sex for pleasure so if there are animals who's base instinct is homosexuality than shocker it obviously wasn't something they learned.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Dolphins have sex for pleasure and they have gay dolphin sex.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know, that's why I said Humans are one of the only, not the only. Side note, "gay dolphin sex" sounds really funny.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I honestly don't get the point of discussing whether gays are born gay or if straits are born strait. If they like a certain sex, then let them like it. Nobody gives strait people any heat for liking the opposite sex, so why should we give gays and lesbians any heat?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I personally think gays decide to be gay. I know guys that are "gay" but choose to like women. PEOPLE CHOOSE WHAT THEY ARE ATTREACTED TO.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

YOU CANT CHOOSE WHO YOU ARE ATTRACTED TO, MAYBE THEY DO THAT BECAUSE YOU ARE AROUND YOU NASTY PREJUDICIAL DIPSHIT wanted to see what it looked like to overuse capslock. damn that felt awsome

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nice language there! Yeah, well sometimes your attractions are based on the culture you live in. Ultimately you choose who and what you like. How does a gay guy know he likes butt sex?! He doesn't if he hasn't tried it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How does a straight guy know he likes girls without having sex with one?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well if he's normal then he will want to reproduce and continue the human race.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think it's important because then its more acceptable to be gay if they can't help it, ya know?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're right, it's not even a discussion, because it's so plain obvious that it's NOT a choice. I agree with the rest of your comment, but really, we already have the evidence to put the whole choice matter to rest.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Then why don't we put it o rest?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sure. But to be fair, you're the one who started this discussion way up there ^

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There are so many problems with this post that I don't even know where to start. OP, you really have a loose grasp on psychology, don't you?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If you have the ability to choose what sex to be attracted to, I get the feeling you are naturally bisexual but suppressing one end. Straight or gay people cannot choose that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I just wanted to say, that I enjoyed reading the comments for this post. That is all.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't know... were you this much of a dick when you were ten?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Okay. First off, you're a fucking bigot. Second, having a lisp doesn't make you gay, and being gay doesn't give you a lisp. Some of the gay people I know are the manliest, sexiest, football playing, deep voiced guys out there. You'd never guess they were the stereotype that gay is portrayed as. So if you are an idiot, keep it to yourself.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

One's genes make him/her gay akin to how your genes make you intellectually incapable. Moreover, even if a trait does not present itself at birth, it could be genetic. Otherwise, people with Huntington's disease must choose to degenerate their neurons after a few decades of being alive.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't think you're born gay. I think you just develop it over time, like you do with a taste for food. Some things you like, some things you don't.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Woah, this again? We never get tired of arguing about homosexuality, do we?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

True, but neither is religion and we all know how much people love that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ok not on the topic at hand but, THIS is why we should not let kids have youtube. That is damn scary.

by Anonymous 12 years ago
