+242 You can measure the popularity of a particular person by how many people say "bless you" when they sneeze in class, amirite?

I've literally sneezed in class, no one's said anything. 5 seconds later, a popular girl sneezes and you hear an entire chorus of bless you's

EXACTLY what this post is about. I sneezed in class on Friday, not even the teacher said bless you. Today, one of the popular guys sneezed and every single person, including the teacher, said bless you (except me). I just sat there in awe.

Why didn't you say bless you? You can't expect from others what you don't give to them.

I usually do, but I was just shocked that not one person said it to me but this other kid gets everyone.

I guess that's reasonable. But it was a few days later. Either way, I don't blame you.

I think the likelihood that someone will say "bless you" is indirectly related to the number of people present.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Don't you mean directly related?

No. I've found that the fewer people there are, the more likely someone will say it, and the more people there are, the less likely someone will say it (probably because everyone thinks someone else will, and then no one does... frown ). I don't know, that's just what I've noticed.

In one of my classes (AP Senior English), everyone got 1 'bless you'. No more, no less. Every time. It was as if all of our minds were linked telepathically and we all decided on who got to say 'bless you' in an instant.

Even my teacher never blesses me.

Maybe your sneeze prompted the class to be aware and ready for the next one? lol
