+155 It's annoying that child actors can retire in their teenage years for just being encouraged to be self-absorbed bitches without actually developing any real talents, where there's real people who work hard and help society and have to go on 14 hour shifts just to put food on the table, amirite?

I've worked long shifts before and can understand where you're coming from, but acting actually takes a lot of talent. This is why not everybody becomes movie stars. Acting can also be a very strenuous job. Is it more strenuous than some factory job? We don't know. You can't gauge how tough a job is. I'd bet there are plenty of actors who needed to put food on the table so they developed the talent of acting to do it. I think it's a little ridiculous how much some actors get paid, but guess what, if you don't like it, boycott the actor; stop buying their shit and try to convince others not to buy it. You say the "hard worker" is the one that helps society but it's society that places the child actors in these spots so you can't really blame the actor. Society demands young actors to be in movies that distract us from our shitty lives and that's what society gets. It's as simple as that.

Really? It's not at all as simple as "not buying their shit." And a lot of child actors don't even need to be good, just good-looking. Frankie Muniz was an incredibly average actor if I ever saw one and he retired at 19 with 40 million dollars. I understand when people with real talent use young-aged acting as a step up in their career, like Leonardo DiCaprio, but often times, they make so much money, they can live off that for most, if not all their lives.

It's still society who pays them and provides them that lifestyle. And what do you expect them to do? Turn down an offer to make lots of money? Also, the reason for the major pay difference is that actors have a unique skill that can't easily be replaced. Sure, you could find another actor but could you find one who acts just like Leo? Factory workers and McDonald's workers are easy to replace. Therefore, they aren't paid as much. This is how most things work.

That's not true for lots of child actors though. There aren't a lot of really successful TV shows or movies that rely on the acting of the child.

I agree with you, and they should be paid less, but most workers would probably perform at a much lower standard if there was less entertainent for them.

It's more annoying when they DON'T retire.
