+75 Charles Barkley needs to announce for the UFC, Imagine the colored commentary "oh that punch was just turrible. He hit him right in the face, and now that guy is bleeding turribley". That would be awesome, amirite?

I think you dropped your race card.

oh no its covered in shameless social selectiveness and splattered with an arbitrary focus on common place words. let me get you a new one!

What's the use for it? Why not just say "commentary." There was no need to define what kind, when it's already obvious from the name and the example given afterwards. Nor has it been common place since the 60s.

Oh.. I thought you were being funny. Well this is awkward.

Assuming your serious this would be my response: Because its the type of commentary it is. It is the same reason we say the "red car" instead of just the "car." Both are cars, one is just describing what kind of car it is. That is simply how adjectives work. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_commentator Assuming your joking, this would be my joking response: Its obviously because "darky commentary" and "foreign devil commentary" did not sound as catchy.

Also, i'd like to point out colored commentary has nothing to do with skin color. It is a real form of commentary. I would also like to note that if Barkley were white i wouldn't have called it bleached commentary, because that isn't a real thing.

Ah. sorry for jumping to conclusions.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

all is forgiven, i couldn't tell if you were being serious or not, and that's really where the trouble starts. The internet leaves a lot to be desired when reading a post as you can never quite tell if they are sarcastic, trolling, etc.

I noticed that too, but I figured that he meant it would be a "colorful" commentary, as in interesting.

Yeah, you we're essentially right, that is what i was getting at. If your unfamiliar with it colored commentary is a real form of commentary that is colorful, not like skin, and it has nothing to do with race. at all. in fact it usually involves seasoned sports athletes, of all minorities and majorities, giving in depth often humorous commentary on a topic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_commentator
