+268 You still think of spiders as bugs or insects even though you know they're Arachnids, amirite?

I just think of them as spiders.

They are bugs. Bugs and insects aren't Synonymous. Bugs are one of the animal groups (mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and birds being the others).

Sort of. "Bug" is just a nonspecific, non-scientific term for animals such as spiders and insects and the like. There's more animal groups than that.

Fair enough...and yes I had the feeling I was forgetting one

Yeah, there's A LOT of animal groups. You can be non-scientific and name general groups like fish and birds and the like, but when you start naming scientific phyla, there's a ton more.

Not quite...insects and spiders both belong to the group called arthropods. Otherwise you're right, except you should include fish in your list.

I always thought of a "bug" as just any insect, arachnid or anything in a similar classification such as centipedes.

Well they //are// bugs, just not insects.
