+986 It would be really cool if instead of turning the Harry Potter books into movies, they could've made them into TV series. Each book will be a season, and each chapter an episode. It would've been much cooler, plus they also would've been able to fit every detail of the book, add in extra details, and show us more about life in Hogwarts. Amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I wish they did that with a lot of books(even the Twilight series, even though I hate it now). Because most of the time, people don't get all the awesomeness and feel all the complex emotions happening with the characters in just the movies.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Chances are... it won't be as well funded. So it'd just end up a dud, because none of the awesome effects would be there

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think people would have gotten pretty upset. They've kind of done like with books like the vampire diaries and all, but they just used the characters and the basic settings and story lines and added a lot more for drama and stuff to "entertain" the viewer. In the end, I think the series would turn out even different from the books than the movies.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I didn't think about that, but you're right. They did that with Gossip Girl too, but it's not at ALL like the books!!! If they would have stayed strictly to the HP books though that'd be AWESOME.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If they stayed strictly to the books there would be maybe 4 episodes per season.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

4 chapters in a book? lolol no.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Go pick up a Harry Potter book, now find a chapter and read it. If there was absolutely nothing added to it roughly how long do you think that chapter could be drawn out for if it was a TV series? For a decent length episode you'd have to put in about 8 chapters, or have a bunch of filler stuff that wasn't in the books.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah, you're right, I guess people don't realize how much information is condensed in a video compared to a book. Writing takes a lot more to get the image out, that's why a movie can be 2 hours, and the book can takes several hours to read.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Like with Game of Thrones!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's the only way to even remotely do Game of Thrones justice.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Kind of, but the A Song of Fire and Ice books are far more complex than Harry Potter. Which means Harry Potter would need to add lots of new subplots while Game of Thrones doesn't.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I always thought Harry Potter would have been a good anime. You don't gotta worry about aging actors when all the characters are animated.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But the actors need to age because the books take place over 7 years...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You think it would take 7 years to complete the tv series? Unlike with the movies, it seems like the actors would be aging too slowly to make a tv show.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What if they had done a season per year, and filmed the first season when the actors were 11? Then they would've aged perfectly

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It would take longer to film the TV series than it would the movies, it took 10 years to film the movies.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's a good point, too.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Only if J.K. Rowling approved the extra details and had complete veto power.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

She did with the movies, I believe. Dumbledore almost had a line about a "past girlfriend" before he was outed, and she had that vetoed.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But you said she had could decide what went in the movie. Also, when i refreshed cause my browser froze, amirite went to a WHOLE different design. :)

by Anonymous 11 years ago

...yes? And holy crap. When I opened the link to your comment, everything went awesome.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Never, unlike books, the main priority of shows is to appeal to the masses, not have quality, and besides you don't even get to use your imagination I'm sorry but the book will always be better

by Anonymous 11 years ago

THIS IS FREAKING CREEPY. I thought of this exact same idea not too long ago but for the Hunger Game series. I swear, every exact detail you stated was what I was thinking of... Wow.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The Hunger Games would be cool as a series because It could be extended through. Little survival scenarios could easily be portrayed through one episode.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But then the third season would tank, because NOTHING would happen.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Exactly! While reading the book after watching the movie, I started thinking of how much better the on screen version of the book would have turned out if it had been a show. Also, there would be more suspense and the audience could really understand what the characters are like.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It probably didn't happen, because they make so much more money when there are cinema releases. Although a tv show would be pretty rad

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I actually really like this idea, but I really hate book to TV adaptations, even with something as great as Harry Potter. Usually they add way too many filler episodes which make me angry.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I love the idea but I think a lot of less people would have seen it then. B/c I love the movies but I really doubt I would have watched a TV series just because it's not my favorite genre. More people are willing to watch movies, I guess. And some books have done this like Game of Thrones and Pretty Little Liars. I think movies just appeal to a wider audience b/c you can go see them with your whole family but rarely do families sit down and watch a TV show all together...I don't know.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If each chapter was an entire episode that would be the least successful pilot episode ever. Does anyone remember the first chapter of the first book? All the sub plots in the world wouldn't make that an interesting episode.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

They should definitely do that with graphic novels.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Why do we need more annoying HP fans than there already are?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think that's ones of those ideas that is awesome in theory.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

And i know just the girl who can play the role of Fawkes :D

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Um, you know Fawkes is a bird...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

http://ctrlv.in/84132

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Fawkes could be computer animated and voices over by an actual bird.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

And could catch a disease and never be reborn next time it burned

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Omg yay my first POTD! :D It sucks that I don't have an account anymore though :( I used to have one but I got banned in the summer lol. I don't know why I never made one again though, but I still go on amirite everyday. Why did I just tell you all of this? K anyways I'm too lazy to reply to the comments since I'm on my phone and I have to use the desktop site to comment which sucks. So I just wanna say that some of you are right, some chapters aren't enough to make a whole episode, but also some chapters need more than one episode to be portrayed brilliantly so technically each episode doesn't have to be only one episode, with the right editing, they can squeeze in a few chapters together if needed. Also, as I said, there can be additions to the story, AS LONG AS these additions don't affect the plot and don't change anything from the book, like what they did in the movies. And If the series was EXACTLY like the books it would be so epic! Long post, I know D:

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You could have kept the name WAZZUP to make it more credible that it's you

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I know that feel, bro. One of my posts got POTD after I got banned.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm not really into Harry Potter, but I feel this should be the case for a lot of books. They miss things out when they make movies so a tv series would make it so that they didn't need to miss anything out.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I dunno about that. My favorite book series might get a TV show and I'm a little worried what they might do to it. What would they decide to add? What would they change? If it was a series of movies I'd be more likely to accept that even though a LOT would be cut.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

So like the "Avatar: The Last Airbender" series?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I always thought the 13th Reality series would make an epic tv series. There's always something going on and there are a lot of pages to draw from.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

And then it would turn into some teenage daily drama..?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If it followed the book exactly, then it won't be turned into a teenage drama. Harry Potter already has millions of fans, it doesn't have to try hard to appeal to kids and teens like other movies, TV shows and books. And if they did turn it into a teenage drama, then fuck them.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The post says instead, as in, not making the movies, making a TV series instead. If they hadn't made the movies the fanbase would be about 1/10 of what it is now, and if they made a TV series it would be to appeal to teenagers.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

completely, because that's the main problem with the movies, they don't follow the books AT ALL.
