Then their dad/parents should take initiative and get them away from the TV rather than blaming not having time to spend with them on cartoon marathons.

I don't understand. Just because some kids don't have fathers (if that's what this is about) doesn't mean the kids with fathers can't appreciate their dads on fathers day by watching fathers day episodes. It also doesn't mean that the kids without fathers can't use the day and marathon to appreciate their parental guardian(s) in general.

I'm confused. What does this have to do with kids not having fathers? I thought it was about kids spending time with their fathers on father's day instead of watching TV.

The thought was that the marathon was pointless because kids would be spending time with their dads, not that the marathon would take their kid from their dad... Oh well.
