Well actually, Prometheus gave the cavemen fire... I'm currently studying for a mythology test so don't mind me. Amirite? is just my way of procrastinating.

True, but I think the issue is the extent of the greed- it's only natural to pursue self interests, but being so greedy that you become apathetic towards the human condition is what makes this world too corrupt. Not only are we quickly losing our sense of compassion for our fellow humans, but our greed usually isn't even in our best self-interest; we're greedy in the sense that we're willing to destroy the world and anything that lives on it as long as it satisfies our immediate desires, rather than focus on what's most beneficial overall. And what's worse is that society often encourages this materialistic mentality. The greed we have that was initially intended to help us survive has become our downfall.
