+209 Pregnant women should be given a one-use blue flashing light, like the ones the police use when they commandeer a civilian vehicle, to put on their cars so people know to give them way on the way to deliver the baby. Of course it would be a crime for a car without a woman going into labour to use it, amirite?

Very rarely do women need to 'rush' to the hospital. More often than not labor takes a very long time.

You wanna take the risk?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Considering it's very low risk, sure. There are a lot of reasons a person could need to get to the hospital right away, with about the same probability of it actually being needed. Should we give everyone these lights?

I've always thought delivering a new life, which you have put in great effort to sustain for nine months, is more important than anything else. Plus, it would be more effective to wait for an ambulance and paramedics for life-threatening injuries. Pregnant women can actually walk to the car with little or no assistance or ill effects

Probably not if it's an actual emergency where they need to get to the hospital immediately. I imagine that walking would be a pretty painful experience if you happen upon the small chance of being pregnant and needing to get to the hospital asap.

But they could if they really had to. A person with smashed legs couldn't walk no matter what and would need an ambulance no matter how fast he needs to get to the hospital to save him from blood loss. the light is to help people with things that are predictable. Giving birth, alive or dead, is an inevitability once someone is pregnant, but there's no way to predict a car crash or getting shot.

Well this was a thrilling conversation. I admit you make a good point. Its just too easy to try and argue with people on the internet i admit i fall prey much too often.

At first I read this as a flashing blue car, and I thought it would be kind of inconvenient and take up a lot of space
