Very clever. :P

Sex is a verb and gender is a noun. On a serious note though. Sex is fun and gender isn't. I don't get it, who gets those two confused?

I know, especially when people forget that one identifies reproductive organs and the other is a social construct!

Wait, what was that last bit? d

It's also frustrating when people go on to say gender in general is purely a social construction formed after birth and so couldn't cause distress if mismatched with your biological sex.

Even if it is basically a social construct, it is still VERY distressing when you're mismatched. As your neighborhood friendly trans* individual, I know firsthand. >.<;

Guh. I was explaining the difference of sex and gender to a friend once last year, and she called over the teacher and asked him about it. He said, "Well, they're the same thing." So I tried to explain it to him, and being an English teacher, he of course thought he was right (because "OH WELL I KNOW DEFINITIONS MUCH BETTER THAN YOU BLAH BLAH"). Guh. GUHHH.

What do you expect. English is gender neutral. You should have asked your Spanish teacher. y

I honestly didn't know there was a difference till I read this post o: good to know!

I know there is a difference, but I still say that ideally they should match. Gender came about because of biological things. I agree it's gone too far in limiting what each sex should think and like, but some things are promoted or discouraged by biological traits.
