+148 You really hate that the 'cool' thing to do nowadays is to trash modern singers. Maybe they aren't the same as old singers, but let your fucking nostalgia go. Justin Bieber/One Direction AREN'T that bad, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh yeah, and not only them, but Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, etc. On the other hand, Miley Cyrus, Lady GaGa, and Ke$ha can fuck themselves.

I like Talyor Swift and Selena Gomez look on the bright side. You're a hypocrite that I half appreciate.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I voted my own comment down, because I realized how stupid that sounded. :/

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Sorry but Justin Bieber is bad. I have never heard of One Direction but JB really hurts my ears.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What human with a computer HASN'T heard of One Direction? Whether people like it or not they are everywhere.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Sorry, but your question pretty much answers itself. I know that, until this post, there was at least one. Since you replied to my post, you should also know there was at least one. And also to reiterate what I said, it was a matter of opinion. Anyone who says that Justin Bieber should stop singing is an idiot. Whether you like his music or not, he has made millions. Why should he stop?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The quality of a band is relevant. If One Direction brings you the same joy that Weezer and Passion Pit bring me, then by all means, listen to them.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

i don't care if you want to listen to it, but let me keep my own opinion about the quality of those bands.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's okay to listen and enjoy them, but they aren't talented. Hardworking, I can imagine. But not musically talented, which is what musicians are judged on.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Maybe, but it depends on how you define talent. I dislike singers who have raspy voices or can hold notes for a long time, because I don't like the sounds that those techniques produce. So how can you really make talent an objective thing?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh, come on now. There are good singers and bad singers, just like good writers and bad writers. For example, I love Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen. But she is not musically talented. She cannot sing well. She cannot play an instrument well. You can like something but understand that it's not musical talent.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But what is the definition of good singing and instrument-playing? I just don't understand why someone should be considered talented if the music they produce does't appeal to absolutely everybody. Like I said, maybe singers that can hit really high notes and hold them for a long time are talented in that they have strong vocal chords and they work hard to keep them strong. I get that. But if the sound of long notes annoys me, then how much should that really matter? Music is about sound (at least for me).

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't hate modern singers, I don't like a lot of the popular ones. There are SOME popular modern artists who I appreciate. Most of my songs just happen to be less-known but that just means it doesn't appeal to most people. I can respect your opinion as long as you respect mine. However, I do think Justin Bieber jokes aren't funny.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well yeah, I totally understand, but i don't like it when they're like "LOL BIEBER IS GAY HAHA ACTUALLY HE'S JUST A GIRL LOL" Just because it's "cool". I understand that you can genuinely not like some of the artist, but people should just shut up about it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I agree. There is a line between respectfully disagreeing on musical tastes and insulting a person. Most people who insult celebrities don't realize they go through some of the problems that we face and I know I wouldn't appreciate someone insulting me on a daily basis. Although, this does go both ways. Saying Justin Beiber is the best singer on the planet and no one will ever amount to his amazing voice is also annoying. I will tell them that I disagree with them and that the statement they made was an over exaggeration. If they say they love Justin Beiber's voice and listens to his songs on repeat everyday, who am I to stop them? I will not try to "fix" them by forcing my musical tastes on to them. I will **strongly** disagree with someone if they like an artist that sings only about drinking alcohol, sexually intercourse, they stereotype or promote discrimination against a group of people and unnecessary violence. tl;dr : Go like what ever the fuck you like but don't expect me to go along with it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah, I just hate how the Internet just trashes them.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Pink Floyd is my favorite band, and I think their music is absolutely amazing. (although Tool is a close second) If One Direction is your favorite band, and you think their music is amazing, feel free to listen to them. Just because I say they're bad doesn't mean they really are bad, I just think they are because I don't like their music.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I read your comment and immediately thought 'did I write that and forget about it?' because it's exactly something I would say. And then I saw that it wasn't me but just another well spoken musically tolerant person with excellent taste.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well thank you :D I don't call myself Musician of Extremes for nothing though, I listen to quite a contrast of genres... I listen to rock and metal on one side, but then I listen to classical music (as a violinist, it's grown on me). According to your bio, The Wall is your favorite album? I'd have to say mine is a tie between The Wall and Animals.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah, I'm the same - rock's probably my main genre, but there's also a few country artists I really like, and though I'd be unlikely to play a classical CD I have a friend who plays classical piano really well, and I love to listen to him. Animals is awesome too, and far too underrated in my opinion, so good choice there!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Honestly, I don't get how people think older bands like pink Floyd are all that great.... I've given them a listen and they're whatever.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Its not that they're good because they're older. I just prefer to listen to them more than other bands because I find their music appealing. I don't only like old bands...like I said, I listen to Tool.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's not that those groups are modern that makes (most) people trash them; they just kinda suck. Their music is not written or played by them most of the time and their singing isn't that great either. I listen to lots of new music but that doesn't mean pop

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think people have the right to complain about the meaning behind most popular songs today which are only suitable to play in clubs. At least that is the only time I would want to listen to a song telling me to "put your hands up on the dance floor tonight." I totally agree, though, that people are being WAY TOO critical of popular singers today because it is the cool thing to do. You may not like the stupidity of the lyrics, but that does not automatically make the artist talentless. Justin Beiber, Beyonce, Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga, etc //can// actually sing. Oh, an it is stupid to insult a singer by calling them gay or something. Some popular singers can't sing, of course, but don't clump them all together.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well, I hate Justin Bieber unrelated to music. I had an ex-girlfriend who broke up with me due to her believing he had an "unstoppable link to Justin Bieber to come to her."

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That I understand, I'm talking about people who hate them because it's 'cool'.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't understand why people think its okay to only like certain music. I don't care what music you listen to, don't try to shove it in my face and tell me that the music I like isn't music at all and isn't good. If I want to listen to boy bands, I'll listen to my god damn boy bands. If I want to listen to Nickelback, you can bet your ass I'm gonna listen to Nickelback. If I want to listen to heavy metal, I'm gonna listen to heavy metal. It's not okay to tell someone that they're taste in music is bad or wrong. Everyone is different and some people don't understand that. Sorry. This is just a topic that drives me insane.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's fine to not like them, but to make tons of things about how much they suck, and saying that they should die is sort of insane.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You're right they're not bad no no they're Horrible very Horrible
