OP, how many times have you called something "Teh best thing evaaarrr!" Well, it's the same with friends. Like ActionMan said, it can refer to a group of friends that you're closest with and know you the most.

Okay, I'm not sure why I'm getting downvoted, but let me explain: I didn't mean you //literally// said "Teh best thing evaaarrr!" I was just pointing out that you'll call a lot of things "the best," but that often times you wouldn't actually be able to pick which one was definitively the best. It's the same with friends.

You can only have one best friend, unless you have separate categories. for example, I can have a best friend to play video games with, and another best friend to play sports with, but I can't have two gaming best friends, unless they're in an inseparable group or something like that.
