-61 The world would be a much better place if we all actually followed the whole "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all," concept, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't mean you can't disagree with people. Just don't be a b!tch.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Improvement in what, exactly?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You could say "maybe you should've added more of ____," instead of "you suck at cooking." It's actually used constructively, isn't rude, and you get your point across.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

So why be even meaner to them and say something really really rude?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Look, like I stated below, my post isn't trying to say to completely shut yourself from saying anything negative. State your opinion, but do it in a way where it will actually benefit the person. If someone said "it was pretty good, but maybe next time you should add more sugar," I would find it a lot more useful, than telling them they completely suck at cooking. You're not getting anything positive out of the second scenario.

I much prefer to have meaner friends because they're normally more honest. Nice today just means "Lie your fucking pants off".

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If it needs to be said, it must be said. Just use your discretion(sp?) when doing so.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

A good rephrase would be: "If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all." Good things can include criticism...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That was basically what I was going for. I guess I could just ask a mod to change that.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Political debates would be so quiet though.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

you can get your point across without being insulting.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The average person could, most politicians I've seen wouldn't be able to.

Well then again, I'm sure America has nothing nice to say about Al Quaeda, doesn't mean they shouldn't say anything... If no one spoke out against things then human kind and issues pertaining to rights and safety would never progress

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yes, but when people were cheering and screaming out their hatred in the streets while celebrating the of death Osama it was, just, no. I understand he was a terrible human being, but you're leveling down to where he is. You can be happy for your country to have gotten rid of such a man, but do it more appropriately. My post doesn't say "If you have something negative to say, don't say anything at all." You can disagree, but do it constructively and with good reasoning.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well obviously I meant people should voice their opinions respectively. I didn't mean to say it's okay to be an asshole because there's always a respectful way to show opposition or dissent, no matter the situation.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's what I was going for with this post. I guess my wording was just really bad.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The world would be a better place if we followed "treat others how you want to be treated."

by Anonymous 11 years ago

BDSM, anyone?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hitler: "And now we will declare war on the world and kill the Jews!" Me: "uhh...I mean um I guess I shouldn't...I just don't think...nevermind."

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Inb4 "hitler spoke german"

by Anonymous 11 years ago

"That's a terrible thing for Hitler to say. Maybe we should stop things before they get out of hand."

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hey! That's not nice! Keep it to yourself

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No. The mean thing to say would be "He's being an ass." Constructive does not mean rude.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Your opinion is stupid and you should feel bad.
