It's about God's timing, it'll happen when it's right, until then, keep praying. It's kind of like, building water up behind a dam, and then when it finally happens, the more water (or prayer) you put into it, the more powerful it will be. You see?

ya thats one reason, and another is how hilariously dumb some of these posts are, and how some are right and make you think about it :)

I totally agree with Artistic Broccoli, but seriously, you said you were a Christian and all, why?? Praying doesn't make you a Christian, people with different religions pray too. Doing good doesn't make you a Christan either, a lot of other people do hell lot more to make this world better and they're not Christians either. Going to Church only makes you a Christian just as much as standing in a garage makes you a car. I can go on with this for centuries, but the point is what makes you think that being a Christian is going to make God listen to you??!! if this has been going on all your life, then it's either that God DOES give you what you want, but you're often blinded to see that, or that you're simply doing it wrong. Other reasons may be true, but these are ones I could think of now.

I don't think God is going to listen to me only because I'm a Christian. How do I know if God does give me what I prayed for? And what do you mean I'm "doing it wrong?"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Duhh!! when you get what you prayed for or when you get something better than what you expected!! and by saying "doing it wrong" I mean that when you pray you expect that things would go the way you planned for them to, and so if things didn't go according to you're plan you wouldn't accept that, you need to believe that God will help you and give you the best way to follow, you need to trust him, not expect him to give you exactly what you want. Remember that he's a loving father, no such father would want any harm to happen to his child, he would only allow harm to happen when he knows that it will be something that will make you stronger, he's wise, so accept what he gives you lovingly because he knows better about what's good for you.

God will either answer Yes, No, or Wait. If your prayer isn't answered, either He doesn't think its a good idea or He wants you to wait.

(The Walrus): just because you ask santa for something and get it doesn't mean that santa is the one that gave it to you. same with god.

I've had one prayer answered before. I was being abused by my boyfriend and couldnt afford to leave him and go home to my mom. and I prayed for the first time in 9 years, to just please help me get out of here. An hour later, (I was a waitress) a customer gave me $400 and she said she didn't know why, but somehow she just knew I needed it more than her. She said she didn't even know why she withdrew the cash from the bank earlier that day, but for some reason, she just did. She was questioning it all day, and as soon as she saw me, she just felt like it was why. I think prayers are answered when God knows you need something, instead of just wanting something. I could have died or killed myself if I'd stayed with my ex. Another thing I do, when I doubt God, is flip coins. He always wins. :)

My friend was recently in the hospital having to get his leg amputated just below the knee. Th entire time we were praying that God would do something to save his leg. We were all disappointed on the day of the surgery. The doctor commented that they would give him morphine after, but it would not be nearly enough (the fact that my friend can not stand any amount of pain did not comfort us). Amazingly after the surgery he did not need any pain killers for his entire stay! The doctors and nurses were stunned! It reminded us that even when God does not answer our prayers the way we expect He is always listening and there for us!
