+119 It would be really interesting to hear different users' amirite life stories. Like why they became a poster/commentor/both and how they got to their current level of popularity on the site, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

After a few months on this site I just randomly decided to start posting. So I did. I hope you enjoyed this epic tale.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Do you remember how you started to become a popular user? Was there like any kind of thing that set you apart or some event that made people notice you? And are you sure there's nothing that inspired you to start? You thought the posts were funny or you had an idea you wanted to see if people agreed with. Think about it homeslice

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I wouldn't say I'm a popular user by any stretch. And nothing inspired me I just thought that since everyone else posted stuff that I should too. What's your story?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I lurked for a while then I saw a post about how the most loved comments section was funny and I read a buttload of pages of that. Then I started commenting and knew how to get loves from reading pages of that. And people started paying attention to me after I ended up getting a potd on like my second day because a repost of my post got it originally. Maybe popular was the wrong word, but well known.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't consider myself famous or well-known by any means, but in late August I decided to start posting more & being a more active user. I try to post once a day, but I haven't today. I message people a //lot//, too.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I thought you were going to say you were born in late August and proceed to tell us your life story. I... I don't know why. wary

by Anonymous 11 years ago

yeah, all the cool babies use computers. h

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I post when I think of things. I comment when I have something I can say. I like to talk. I started becoming noticed several months ago (I had like, 10 followers) when I started getting back into the site and commenting on everything and making a few posts. I'm hilarious and cool people like Brettward (shout out) noticed. Then I made a really awesome post that got homepaged the day it was posted and later went on to be POTD. Now I have 60+ followers and feel accomplished because this is all I do.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Lol I don't like posting, comment are more fun. It's like with comments, there is already a set idea for you to use to talk about, a sort of guideline Posts are so board and it's hard to really think of a good love-guaranteed post.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I one time read like the first 30 pages of the most loved comments because they were all so funny and I knew then that I wanted to have good comments like those people. Then I started spamming the potd trying to be funny, pissed people off, and made it so no one wanted to make too many try to be funny comments on the potd in fear of looking like a comment-whore like me. But at least I got my butt load of comment loves.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's me when I was god. I got 100 followers though so I must've done something right hmm

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I only have like 60 so I apparently didn't

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Nate you shouldn't suck so hard then

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Maybe* CURSE THIS IPOD

by Anonymous 11 years ago

on another note i like this comment format

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I remember noticing your comments. I found most of them hilarious.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That was like my last two months, in the first couple they all sucked and were desperate for loves. But I do appreciate the compliment.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I stumbled around MLIA for a while before one of their posts led me here. At first I was intimidated by this site, since it asked its users to actually form opinions about things. But it turned out I actually liked using my brain, and I hung around. This site has been there for me through thick and thin, and even on my worst days I know I have a place to go where people will appreciate and even enjoy my snarky wit and deep need to make fun of everything. Oh, and I got my third POTD while stranded in a bus station without any wifi, which has got to be one of the most tragic things to ever happen in my life.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My friend actually showed me this site a year and a half ago and then like three days later someone showed me MLIA and I read two posts on that and got bored and I didn't know what to do in the Internet so then I remembered my friend telling me about this site and so I scrolled through the posts and after realising that I enjoyed being able to form opinions and debate them with others, I made an account and lo and behold I became an avid amiriter. That wasn't that interesting. Sorry lol

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My amirite life story is basically in my bio in my profile. And I guess I became a little more amirite popular after my post yesterday about 9/11.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't think I'm really known on here, so I don't have much popularity besides a decent comment here and there and some well-liked arguments. And I hate to admit it, but I came here from MLIA.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think a lot of people did and I recognize your name, but I can't really say where I recognize it from.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I also recognize you a lot lately due to your picture and the fact that I can't stand Nicolas Cage. Doesn't make me hate you, but it certainly makes it easier to identify you haha. And that's true. I've seen people say they've come from mlia multiple times.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

lol I have his picture as mine as a joke. I find his face fucking hilarious. I had it as actionman, but he won't let me d. I didn't feel like changing it back to me so Nic Cage.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Nicolas cage with a mustache is somehow much more tolerable.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I feel this is appropriate, considering today is my two year anniversary on this site. I don't remember exactly how I found amirite, but I started lurking and looking at the posts before I would go to MLIA. Then I quickly realized that amirite > MLIA, so I started using it a lot more and eventually making a few posts. I made one account, got bored, switched to this one. I don't consider myself a popular user but I'm happy with my status

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You're actually one of the few users I always recognize for some reason :P

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Haha aw really? I actually recognize you too

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yay! Besties!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Wonderful haha. And reading the first line of your bio, I'm also from jersey :)

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yaaaay :D and haha there's so many people from Jersey on here! It's bizarre. What part?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah it's crazy. I actually just recently found someone who lives like one town over from me. I'm in ocean

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Wait you're in Ocean City? Dude I vacation there sometimes.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Haha nah, ocean county :P but I have a lot of friends who live near there on LBI. Those bastards are loaded

by Anonymous 11 years ago

oooo

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Haha that would be so weird! I know exactly where that is though, my grandparents have a house down there. I live up north

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My grandparents also happen to have a house up north :p

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Where?? It would be kinda freaky if it was right near me hahaha

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I found this site about 2 and a half years ago from MLIA and I read every single post on the homepage. I can't remember how many pages there was at that time but I'm pretty sure it took me hours. Then I made my profile and the first post that I ever posted made it to the homepage and I was pretty excited. I don't post or comment too often but I get on here every day and still read all the posts on the homepage and sometimes posts on the just in page. I'm not well known at all but I still feel kinda special that I've been here for so long. Haha

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I was introduced to the site by my sister around two years ago. I am by no means a popular user, but I am almost always on here. Yeah, it's not an interesting story :(

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I've been on this site for 2.5 years and still no one knows who I am. Maybe because I hardly ever comment or post but hey that's life. y

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hey, I know who you are! Didn't we have some sort of weird string of comments about something rather odd? I don't entirely remember what it was, though. Hmm...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh yeah I remember that o: That was so long ago!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Wow, I'm surprised you remember! Geez, that was, like, 2 years ago. What did we even talk about, anyway?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think people who were bad at driving.... Maybe...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hm, that does kind of ring a bell! Did it have anything to do with people standing outside in their underwear in Siberia or was that someone else?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hahaha, I don't think that was me.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well, then who did I have that conversation with? I wish I could find our little comment thread! I could take the time to look through my comments, but that just sounds like it would take awhile.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I found it since I have too much free time. http://amirite.net/248575/407448 I had to go through many annoying comments I made two years ago to find this, haha.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Haha, holy crap, I don't remember that thread going that far! I don't even remember posting half of those comments, geez. Thanks for finding it!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Me neither, but you're welcome haha.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Brettward95 bringing people together since 2 days ago.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The real truuninja died in a freak jenga accident yesterday and I (his mother) took over his account because I'm pretty certain that it's what he would have wanted.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Dude I remember I used to see you everywhere. Maybe I still do but don't recognize you because of your new profile picture

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It is a while since I did anything good publicly.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Ah I see

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't think I'm exactly very well known, but I do have one of the most loved comments, so that's pretty great. There's really no story behind it besides me just deciding to write a comment that I thought was only slightly silly, but apparently a lot of people thought it was very funny.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I joined two years ago yesterday cool and just post a fuck ton of comments.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I come on here because I have a lot of opinions, and sometimes I show them by clicking buttons, and sometimes I elaborate a bit more. Sometimes people agree with them and praise them but sometimes they're more controversial. I pretty much just described the point of the site... so that explains why I have been here for over two and a half years and still nobody really knows me.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Not much of a story. Can't remember how I came across this site, no one knows who I am (I simply lurk about) and I rarely post or comment. The End.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I joined about a year and a half ago after my cousin showed me this site. Now she barely ever goes on it and I live on it - it is my escape from the real world. When I first joined, I made a lot of posts, but then I started only commenting because my posts sucked. Recently my post making ability improved greatly so now I comment and make posts. I have no idea what my current level of popularity is on this site, but I do know that getting notifications on here makes me happier than it probably should.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I saw a reference to this site on MLIA. I came and lurked for a while without an account. Then I made an account and started posting, mostly about annoyances and religion/politics. Most of my posts were well received, and even those that weren't were controversial enough to be noticed. I made enough posts and comments to get consistently recognized, and now people on here know me! I may not be popular, but I'm known.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I found Amirite after I hiked through a thousand jungles, beating up monsters and stuff in search for a hidden mystical treasure. Okay no but my amirite story is painfully typical. I used to love to troll around on the MLIA comments section so eventually I found out about this website. I made some anonymous posts before I said "Eh, whatever" and made an account. My posts were suckish and nothing special, but they evenutally got better. After awhile I didn't feel like making posts as much so I started commenting on things. I'm definitely not popular here, but I started gaining followers for some reason. I really wanna go on chat but derrrrr awkward.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Wait were you an MLIA commentor or did you just creep?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I usually commented. It was really interesting, the commentors would practically just throw a party and ignore the post. Oops.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

For some reason I don't see my other comment. I asked what was your username and I said how it was less of a party and more a gathering of people who hate life

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You should start going on chat!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I probably will sometime. I'm just really awkward at this sort of thing but everyone seems pretty nice.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hey don't worry about being awkward, most of us were when we first started going, but now we're one big happy family :D

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Um I officially joined 2 years and 2 months ago. I don't think I got homepaged for a really long time, but then I slowly started getting homepaged and then some of my really old posts were getting homepaged and I was like "wat". I was really annoying and stupid when I first joined (I was a freshman at the time). Now I'm just annoying. A lot of my recent posts have been homepaged but it kinda sucks because my recent posts have SUCKED. But anyway... Was this for popular amirite users or for anybody? If it was for the popular people I'm sorry for wasting your time :P

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Dude everything's for everyone. I'm genuinely interested in how everyone got into this site.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My story is actually really long and complicated. Not even joking, if anyone wants to know message me.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'd be very interested in knowing.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My sister introduced me to amirite a looong time ago (I don't really remember how she knew about it) and I thought it was the coolest thing ever and I read through homepages for hours. I posted some things anonymously, but I wanted an account so I could get the full amirite experience. I didn't feel like making an account though, so I started using my sisters. Well, turns out we're not as similar as I thought because I kept posting/commenting things that she didn't agree with and she got really annoyed and told me to go make my own account since we have different opinions and she looked like a hypocrite. So I made this account. Taaaadaaaa cool
