+121 Except for perhaps a select few, humans are omnivores, and there's no way around that at the moment. amirite?

i'm not really sure what youre trying to convey here

I'm addressing how people are so disgusted by eating other animals that they think it's immoral and wrong. And it's not. There's no way to make yourself a complete herbivore or carnivore without it being detrimental to your health or sucking out your wallet. Meat and plants are good for us.

there's nothing wrong with not eating meat though. I understand SOME people miss some nutrients by not eating meat but it's completely possible to do it correctly and not miss any nutrients.

Oh, no, of course not. I'm not saying that. I'm saying that it's ridiculous to recognize yourself as a non-omnivore, because without the proper genetics, we are omnivores. I mean if you want to be a vegetarian or vegan, be my guest. Though some have yet to realize that they are such by choice, and that you can't force others to conform and you can't claim yourself to be a herbivore. It is more natural to eat both meat and plants than it is to just eat meat or plants...well, it's natural to choose not to eat meat, but...I'm not sure how to word it. It goes against our dietary habits, I guess? I mean you can get those nutrients in other ways, but those other ways are just typically more expensive.

oh i see what you mean. so some people actually classify themselves as herbivores or something?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm not going to claim that I've heard any vegetarians or vegans claim themselves as such. But as per human tradition, there's always going to be many idiots out there who consider themselves to be things they're most certainly not. EDIT: Might as well put it out there before someone says it anyhow. Might prevent stupidity.

My friend rebloged something on tumblr that said something like "Eating meat is Animal abuse, no acceptions" and I really didn't get it. There are ways we could make the animal's lives better, but we aren't forcing them to fight or prolonging their death. I typically eat meat just one or two meals a day. I don't see what that's such a bad thing.

Now I'm not a vegetarian in the slightest, but saying there is no way around it is just wrong. There are many healthy vegetarians, and many unhealthy people who eat everything, or mostly meat. Vegetarians are not unhealthy because they don't eat meat, it's just an inconvience for them

I meant "no way around it" as in there's no way around of being genetically coded as an omnivore.
