-33 You didn't know girls could squat to give birth instead of lying down on a bed. amirite?

That's actually pretty sad, considering that lying on her back is, like, the worst position a woman can give birth in. Squatting offers pretty much every advantage in the world over lying on the back, except for ease of access for the doctor. I have to ask, are any other women opposed to giving birth in a different position? I brought the above facts up with my ex when we were discussing children. She got //really// angry with me and said she refuses to give birth in any way except lying on her back because she's "not a fucking animal".

yeah, I learned about that from stumble upon last year and I was pretty shocked since we're not really exposed (or at least I haven't been and many of my friends haven't been) to any other position other than lying down :/ which was really weird to me because (1) gravity is helping you (2) the length of the birth canal is contracted so you don't have to push a longer distance and best of all point number (3) it increases your pelvic diameter by anywhere between 10-30%! It was really weird to me that it's not encouraged more. The only downside I see is that you can't get an epidural.

I was about to ask why you can't get an epidural if you choose to squat... ono I should probably go to sleep.

They should have a platform-like elevator with a hole in the bottom for doctor's access. THe mother crouches on top, and has railings and bracers and stuff to help her keep her balance through the pain. The balance thing is the only disadvantage I could think of for the squatting position.

Squatting and being on all fours are the best birthing positions. People shouldn't believe everything they see in movies.

But if someone fucks up, won't the baby hit its head on the ground?
