+166 It seems like a lot of (not all) people who are voting for Romney are doing so because they believe Obama messed up, without seriously considering how Romney would do better. Amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm voting Romney instead of Obama because I believe he'll cut some of our national debt down by doing away with a lot of programs that we can't afford.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I can definitely respect that, but isn't he going to spend much more on military and big businesses? I'd rather spend more money on things like education and healthcare than less on things I don't agree with.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

He is going to spend more on military, but I don't disagree with his decision to do that. He's not spending more on big businesses, he's cutting the corporate tax rate because it's currently one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world which discourages businesses to open here.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Since you are part of the military (from your profile) I understand that you support more funding, but far more money than necessary goes into wars than into the peaceful, productive side of the military. I would gladly support giving more to the military if there wasn't the probability that some of it was going towards unneeded violence.

The thing with Romney is he never really said WHAT he's going to do, he's only really told us what he's not going to do. Most of what happened during Obama's time in office was not in Obama's control, so he's getting a ton of hate for things he couldn't control. I feel like if he was given a chance this time, that he might actually get some work done and make some positive changes.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This is just speculation, but it kind of seemed like some members of congress were trying to hinder Obama's success specifically so he wouldn't get reelected, and a republican could take office. Maybe if he gets a second term, they will give up the grudge and actually cooperate (this could go for both sides)!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah, I felt like that was happening a lot!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I would rather hear him say what he's NOT going to do, because most of the time they never do what they say they WILL do.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well, by that logic, they would also be lying about what they wouldn't do.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Not necessarily- I don't think that candidates are lying- I think they have false notions of the power of presidency and are unable to fulfill those goals. It's not that they didn't want to, but weren't able too.. And then again some people just lie.

Have you guys even thought of what Obama wants? He wants all of these illegal people to come into our country and live off of us. He wants to RAISE the taxes on the wealthy people. We have worked hard for our money! Somehow we're considered 'evil'. Aren't we the ones who have allowed lives for these people? They come here because they know that they don't have to work but instead have fun and do whatever they want because they don't have to pay for anything! All they have to do is go to the post office each month and get their food stamps. Even if they do work, they aren't making enough money for all these taxes. So of course they want all of this! Raising taxes on us is just going to make us go into debt and then everything is gonna be all messed up. Also, Obama has not a single idea of what he's doing. In these 3 1/2 years, he hasn't passed a SINGLE budget! That's the first time in history a president hasn't done that. And I'm glad that Romney is there to show how clueless he is! Finally someone there to challenge him. He is only "good" against the wearker people. Obama is seriously the most ignorant person. I can't even stand looking at him without shrills going up my back.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's kind of funny, you're proving my point. You said all the things Obama did wrong, but nothing that Romney will do to fix it! That is very harsh, you could have made your point without the insults. I think your opinion would be respected more if you showed some respect for him. 1. Obama doesn't want more illegal immigrants. He wants it to be easier to become an immigrant so there will actually be LESS, and it will be easier for others to become tax-paying citizens. If we make it harder, they will come in anyways and not be able to contribute. Also, it's ridiculous to say you allowed their lives... 2. I don't think anyone should be able to say whether or not people deserve food stamps or welfare unless you were put into that sort of situation and made it out without any kind of assistance. I'm not saying you didn't work hard for your money, but it seems like you come from a wealthy background. You can't say government assistance is unacceptable when you've had assistance from your parents. 3. Taxes are raised on you because you can pay them. Do you forget what taxes actually do - and it's usually good things? It sounds nice to have no taxes, but you'd realize so...(cont.)

by Anonymous 11 years ago

...much would suffer. Surprisingly, tax dollars are put to use; and everyone from the poorest to the wealthiest gets the benefits. 4. 'He's only good against the weaker people'. The weaker people need more help! They make up a lot of the nation, and I don't understand why you're saying we should have a president that ONLY puts the people who are already doing well ahead. President Obama's goal is to give them the benefits NOT so they can stay there, but so they can move up and become wealthier. I try to respect differences of opinions, but YOU are sounding very ignorant.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Because the people doing well fund the assistance of those who are not and now more people are not doing well, so there are less people funding and more needing to be funded, and it will only continue if we allow Obama to continue with his current tax plans. Don't you realize that by allowing Government to dictate these programs tgat SEEM gelpful takes away our choice and eventually our freedom?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm sorry if I come off as ignorant, because I'm not. But yes, Romney has said what he'll do about it - cut taxes on us.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That sounds pretty, but it comes with a cost. Think about it: schools, safe roads, police, firefighters, hospitals, even playgrounds. I might be more willing to consider it if he at least told us his plan.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'd rather give a new idiot 4 years to make mistakes, than give another 4 years to the idiot who is already making them.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Which mistakes are you referring to?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If you paid property taxes you would understand.. Or if you were an educator who has been laid off when Education is slipping, or a college student who relies on Government loans- or a person who grows their own vegetables to sell at the farmer's market. Thanks to Obama, it is now illegal to grow your own food, and the government has the right to detain ANYONE they wish without trial. That is dipping into our constitutional rights there. Plus, it is a mistake to refuse to wear your nations flag on your Lapel for 3 1/2 years of your term- He did however put it on for the big televised debate.

VOTE FOR THIRD PARTY CANDIDATES!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I love Jill Stein of the Green Party, but I wouldn't (I'm too young, I'm 13) vote for her because there's no hope. I wouldn't want to waste (it's a cruel word, but it's true) a vote.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The way I see it, a vote for a Democrat or a Republican is wasted because neither Obama nor Romney want to abolish the death penalty, close Guantanamo Bay, or prosecute the people on Wall Street responsible for the mortgage crisis. Obama supported the Race to the Top program which funds only the highest performing schools (i.e. schools with the highest test scores), giving an advantage to charter schools over public schools and ultimately neglects many public schools.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm in total agreement on all those issues, but it's either going to be Obama or Romney. I feel like it would be more of a 'statement' thing to vote 3rd party rather than a practical thing. (I hope I'm not coming off as mean or aggressive, I'm really not trying to!)

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Any one person's vote would hold an infinitesimal amount of weight, especially since presidency is determined not by the popular vote but by the electoral college. Nevertheless, voting is the only real political power an average citizen in America has. I for one would not want to waste this power voting for less evil or evil plus insanity.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

And no, you are not coming off as mean or aggressive. You are simply stating your opinion and I am stating mine.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

And property taxes have increased by the $1,000's. People keep losing their homes, not only because they can't afford mortgages but also the taxes. Big corps all got a bail out, but we the consumer, and the backbone of this country, didn't receive any kind of bail out. Companies can hire overseas and avoid taxes while taking the jobs away from us, and get paid millions to start over, and homelessness just keeps increasing, and there are people who will never receive their hard earned social security INVESTMENT, all at the mercy of Obama's policies. If you ever wondered what communism was like, it's on it's way.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

They hire overseas because they can pay people in India $2 an hour to answer phones and use loop holes to evade taxes not because there is a shortage of qualified phone reps in the US.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I feel that goes both ways.
