-124 You see someone doing something wrong while walking down the street you see a cop and decide to tell him those people are doing something wrong...thats a good feeling, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

In my line of work we call that "tattling"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

its just funny to watch the people scatter and run!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

NO SNITCHIN'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Rat

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Doing the right thing is more important than worrying over being labelled a snitch or a rat. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. --Edmund Burke It's maybe not a good feeling because you've gotten someone in trouble, but it is a good feeling knowing that someone will be held responsible for his or her actions, be that good or bad, for the sake and protection of the innocent. When we no longer hold people accountable for their actions, and let them do what is wrong, so that we need not get involved, we are weak, and wrong, and just as bad.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I understand protect the innocent, but what if it's a victimless crime, like graffiti or writing their name in the sidewalk?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That is a little bit different, but doesn't the person who owns the building deserve not to have their property vandalized? I know that not everything is black and white, but if someone is doing something that is morally, along with legally wrong, and can put someone else in danger, or infringe upon his or her rights, you have to tell somebody.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You don't HAVE to.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You are morally obligated to. If you see a felony, specifically, and don't report it, you are also committing a felony. Telling on someone for littering or something like that is admittedly petty, so I would say that's a moment when you would just dispose of the person's litter. But people should be held accountable. I wouldn't necessarily take glee in someone else's punishment, and I am a big proponent of forgiveness, but if people don't have to recognize their mistakes, they can't learn.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't really care about teaching people lessons. They'll think "wow that girl is nosey" and be on their merry way. Id get a cop if someone was being beat up, but not for putting their name in the side walk or littering.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lesser things are something they may not require a police officer, but it is still wrong and something that needs action. Maybe even just a disapproving look. But if something wrong is being done, and I don't do anything to stop it, or anything at all, I know I'd feel bad about myself. There is an amount of culpability.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Naw.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes. :-) I will also admit that I am a stickler for the rules. I do believe that most of them are put in place for the benefit of society.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well that's good. You remind me of Hermione.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Dr. Phil would tell you "Why do you have to teach other people lessons?" like he did on his anger management special. He says to be happy you should worry about yourself and let people get themselves in trouble. There's a saying that slightly related to this, it's "you can be right, or you can be happy" and for some reason I was reminded of it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not a matter of being right or being happy. It's a matter of am I going to stand up for what is right. If no one is there to uphold the rules, and laws, chaos will ensue.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah that's what he said your type of people would say.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What do you mean? The law, moral and legal, is very important to me. Upholding it, gives me a sense of pride. If I weren't so clumsy, I'd aspire to be a police officer. But because I am, I really want to be a prosecutor. What's wrong and right is something that needs to be upheld by everybody. But, forgiveness, and rehabilitation are also very important. If there's something I can do, I'll do it. I feel terrible inside when I let bad things, that are in my control, happen.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"If no one is there to uphold the rules, and laws, chaos will ensue." Just that it's YOU'RE job to make sure everybody does what they're supposed to.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's everybody's job to hold people accountable. If nobody's saying, "No, that's wrong," there's just no point. We can do whatever we want then.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, it's your job to hold yourself accountable. Unless someone is in physical danger, worry about yourself. You sound annoying like a little sister.... :|

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But if people aren't holding themselves accountable... then who's going to stop them? A big part of humanity is inspiring and encouraging the good in people, and stomping out the bad. And there is no such thing as a victimless crime. So it's not just that I'm holing people accountable, I'm sticking up for the right's of others.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Police officers, it's THEIR job, not yours. You write a lot.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But the power of the police comes from the people, from society. The police is, or should be, the will of society,

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You are just so damn nosey...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, I'm not. What's right and wrong is everybody's business.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Thinking it's your job to make sure everybody follows the rules is annoying.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't care. A conscience is sometimes annoying. But if we're aren't supposed to hold other people accountable for even the lesser things, why hold them accountable at all?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's gotta suck to be you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not at all. I used to feel bad and guilty all of the time. I felt like a coward. Then I decided that I was going to start sticking up for things, for myself and for others. And for the first time in a long time, I finally felt good. This is what's most important to me. That's why I want to be involved in the judicial process.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You sound like an annoying teacher to me :/ You shouldn't only worry about yourself, because a lot of people won't and you're the only person who can stop them from being douchebags and bitches.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

When was the last time you quit doing something because it bothered an anonymous someone who thought it was wrong?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well first of all, I live in the town outskirts so I drive everywhere and therefore I'm not around people I don't know often. But in any case, I don't do stuff that's against the law. Not to mention, I wasn't suggest walking up to a graffiti artist and saying "wth noob stop doing that its bad." I was suggesting telling the police/other authorities.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

LOL@you voting up your own comments smirk the rest... what the fuck are you on about??

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lol @your only argument being my alleged voting up of my comments. Who cares even I was? As for "the rest... what the fuck are you on about??" clearly you have no argument there.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It should be his and everyone's job. You're not just being nosy, telling a cop that someone is writing graffiti and standing up for what is right is a good thing, and should not be something left only to the police. Not having graffiti on your house > some random dumbass thinking people need to stop getting into his/her business.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Your type of people? What the fuck? Dictator is absolutely right! Now you're just insulting him in a ridiculous way -- "Dr. Phil says yer duMb lol"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, dictator DOES suit them, doesn't it? Yeah lol Dr. Phil was talkin shit about bossy/controlling/rule stickler kind of people, funny, huh.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And you continue to... Using his name to insult him isn't a very good argument. Also, being a rule stickler is absolutely nothing like being bossy/controlling. Being bossy/controlling is just being an annoying bitch. Being a rule stickler is sticking up for what is right. (Unless of course, the rules are wrong, which I admit is sometimes true. However, you must admit that graffiti, using my standard example, is most definitely something to be prevented.)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You were the one who said Dictator is absolutley right? Making sure every body did what they had to was half the reason Hermione had no friends.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I said Dictator was absolutely right because his name is DictatorCourtney........ And do you really think people 'need' to write graffiti?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Um.... no, where did I say people needed to write graffiti? smirk

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well you implied that by saying "Making sure every body did what they had to was half the reason Hermione had no friends." We were talking about graffiti, and it seemed to me that you were saying Hermione had no friends (even though she does) because she told people not to break the rules. 'Rules', being things people 'had' to break. Like graffiti.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Remember before Harry and Ron saved her from the troll? The reason she was crying in the bathroom in the first place? And how she was still a show off in class after that, but she quit telling people what to do, and people quit avoiding her? Yeah.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, but she was in the bathroom because she was being a know-it-all. However, this didn't hurt anyone/anything else, so it's not the same as graffiti, thievery, littering, etc, in my opinion.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm a girl BTW. Thank you for saying that I'm not bossy. I'm not talking personal morality, I'm talking legal morality, which usually has to do with the protection and rights of individuals, and others. Moral law is something that I also live my life by and uphold in myself, but the legal law, or what infringes upon the safety and rights of others, is something that I will hold other's accountable for. That is everybody's job.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm not bossy I just tell people not to do things cos I think I should smirk

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, I hold people accountable for legal wrongdoing that hurts other people or infringes upon their rights.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah and moral, you said you felt guilty somewhere up there if you didn't. There's a post on the just-in page for you...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I may not have been specific or clear enough. I hold myself up to the moral laws that I believe in, and the legal laws. I hold everyone up to the legal laws.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I just don't think it's any of my buisness if I see some kid smoking weed at the park, I'm not gonna ruin his life because it's immoral or whatever.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It wont ruin his life to tell the authorities in the first place. And if he's smoking in public, he's a bit foolish considering most marijuana use is illegal. Smoking weed could ruin his life. However, even though I believe in this particular law, because he isn't visibly hurting or infringing upon the rights of others, I would have some qualms. If I knew the person I would probably tell them my stance, but only if asked to do so. To be honest, I'm not sure I would notice.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Alright, thanks for letting me know, haha. And your welcome. But yes, I agree with you. Legal law isn't something where you can be 'nosy'.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The law is for the protection of everyone. It should be the will of the people, and for the people.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, definitely.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Graffiti - a victimless crime. Lol. People own those buildings you know.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sometimes.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Almost every single building is owned, and if you're going to walk by someone drawing graffiti and just think "Well there's a small chance nobody owns that... So I won't stop them. :D", then you need to rethink this.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not in my slum town. I assumed all of America was like this.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well let's start from the basic that most graffiti is in cities, and there, at least, most buildings are owned.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I have a feeling your voting up your own comments. Everytime you leave one, it already has one vote. And herp a derp, I live in a city, and a lot of buisnesses are no longer running, like I said I live in a slum town. Lets go on to something BESIDES grafeti. Someone litters, be an annoying bitch that gives them a 500$ fine and make it where they can't pay rent this month, or pick up the fucking garbage yourself?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This is an instance where I previously said that you should just pick up their garbage.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No I'm not voting up my own comments, but even I was, who cares? I didn't even know you could, to be honest. I admit that in some parts of cities there are sections which have a large amount of unowned buildings, but in a lot of cities most of it is owned, as well as in most towns. In any case, if you live in a slum town, correct me if I'm wrong, but it must be easy to tell which buildings are owned as compared to unowned. If you did, you could decide from that whether or not to "tattle". As for litter I do believe that should be enforced because litter really is bad for the earth, and I myself don't like to walk down the streets viewing banana peels on the sidewalk. A lot of people don't think about their actions when they chuck a bottle out the window, and this would help. I figure if they can't pay then that will teach them a lesson, and they'll realize that it's bad.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I am doubtful, but if you say so. The problem is, people don't care what you think and they're not going to change. Often times cops don't care either. I called the cops because someone was being beaten up with a baseball bat, and they told me not to call for stupid things cos you can get arrested for that. Shitty, huh? And no I don't live in the ghetto.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That is shitty :/. Well the cops aren't like that where I live, so I suppose it's different everywhere. In any case, I'm really tired at the moment so sorry to interrupt our conversation but I'll respond tomorrow. :P

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Until they shoot you

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Er. Well it depends on what they're doing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Fuq da police!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

LMFAOO!!!! XD OH GOD! XP! I can just hear the whiny, nasally tattle-tale voice....

by Anonymous 12 years ago
