-129 When Christians say that they are "praying for you" it makes you feel like punching them in the head and telling them to mind their own business, amirite?

I totally agree with OP, in no other religion do the users inflict themselves on the bystanders....

It depends on the situation. If I had cancer and someone told me that, I'd take it as a nice sentiment even though I think it's hokum. If they're praying for my soul or for me to see the light of God, I'd be pissed.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

So it would be ok for a Christian to pray for God to heal you of cancer, but not ok for them to pray for God to save your soul?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

They aren't praying for God to save my soul; God can't pick and choose, can he? If they were praying for God to let me into heaven even though I don't believe, that's great! But praying for my beliefs to change so that I can get into heaven...no.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

God can't choose what, whose soul to save? I don't equate praying for God to save someone's soul with praying for someone's beliefs to be changed. I believe people who do pray for the former are generally doing it with good intentions. I know, I know, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. However, even if you believe they are praying for your beliefs to change, I think it is one of the most passive ways of doing so. At least they aren't shoving their beliefs down your throat. And since you seem to not believe in God, then by your standards someone praying about you would not change anything anyway.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Of course it wouldn't change anything, that's not why I don't like it. I find it insulting when people pray for me to become religious.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

god does not heal pple of cancer, god has nothing to do with whether some one lives or dies

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I disagree, and please learn how to spell before attempting to a conversation with me so I might actually be able to take you seriously.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I am not attempting a conversation. Simply stating my point of view, so troll somewhere else, bitch.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yes, because having a different opinion than you automatically means I'm trolling. Good luck with that, sir.

go inflict your anger on someone else

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm not feeling angry at the moment, but thank you for your interest.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'll ask the christians to pray for you sweetie

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I am a Christian, sweetheart, so I'll be sure to pray for you.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

we will chant your name at our next sweatlodge

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Sounds like a plan.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well, it would depend on the reason they were praying for me. If it was because they didn't agree with my philosophy, than yes, mind your own fucking business. But if it was because I was hospitalized, than thank you for your concern.

What the hell has this got to do with Lord of the Rings?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

they might as well pray to the Lord of the Rings
