-36 Unless you're a diehard potter fan, you've wondered what the point of the rest of Quidditch is if catching the snitch is the only thing that matters for winning the game, amirite?

No one wants to watch a guy fly around looking for a ball for 2 hours. Also, getting the snitch doesn't automatically win the game, you only win if you're less than 150 points behind. AND ANYONE WHO DIDN'T KNOW THAT UNTIL READING THIS COMMENT ISN'T ALLOWED TO VOTE NO WAY.

Yes they are, I said anyone who ISN'T A DIE-HARD POTTER FAN hence, people who probably didn't know extensively into the sport.

I meant if they didn't know what the purpose of the game is before reading the explanation they shouldn't no way the post because they now know the purpose of the game. Not that they can't no way in general, like for never wondering about it.

OH I know that the snitch isn't an instantaneous win, but the way it was played off (especially in the movie), that's how it was implied. Hence, if you didn't know, you'd assume the rest of the sport is useless. Trust me, I know it's not the only part. :)

I suppose I can see how people would infer that, but the movie didn't imply it. Oliver Wood explained the rules to Harry in the first movie and all through out the rest of the movies Lee Jordan calls out plays that describe the point system, ex: "Angelina gets the quaffale in, 10 points to Gryffindor!" and "Harry Potter catches the golden snitch and wins 150 points, Gryffindor wins!!" If someone wasn't pay close enough attention, then it would seem like the snitch is an automatic win. But it's not implied.

excuse me but Krum caught the snitch in the 1994 Quidditch World Cup but Bulgaria still lost to Ireland 170-160! The snitch ends the game and gives you 150 points but you don't necessarily win

He said unless you're a diehard potter fan.

I'm not a diehard fan but I knew it doesn't win the game. It's just a whole lot of points.

I'm a pretty diehard fan but I completely agree with this. I honestly think that Rowling should have made it worth 50 points or something more reasonable, considering that a team would have to be up by 15 goals to not lose if the snitch is caught by the other team. So yeah, I'd say the rest of the game is pretty pointless since gaps in score that big almost never happen.

It can also add strategy. Like, why the hell would you capture the snitch if you're more than 150 points behind? You just lost the game either way. You'd want to prevent the other team from catching it until yours caught up. So yes, a majority of the time the team who catches the snitch will win.
