+49 It would suck if you got a superpower that gave no inherent defensive abilities so you'd be just as vulnerable to guns as everyone else, amirite?

This includes most fantasy world abilities. They raise attack like mad, but your defense (and evasion) is still near 0 for the most part. If I were to make a wish for superpowers, (and I have thought about it that much) I woudl say, "I wish to remain human but have the ability to transform into a Super Saiyan 1, Super Saiyan 2 and Super Saiyan 3 from Dragon Ball Z easily and at will, and have all the powers, traits and abilities of each state while I am in each of them respectively.

I think super saiyan 1 would be more than enough.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah it would, but the other two just look too awesome to omit from an all-giving wish. This is the kind of power that's only great if you're the only one with it. I'm sure one day a government will find me a threat and find a way to kill an SS1 so I want to cards up my sleeve.

*respectively, and those of a normal saiyan in human form

I would like to be able to stop time yet have the ability to still use things at my will while time is paused, and of coarse my body would only age during the time that time is passing.

And without that? When you're just walking around normally, people can still shoot you.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yes but noone has tried to shoot me yet however many many teachers have asked me for unfinished homework. And if someone were to shoot at me, I would hear a loud noise stop time and walk casually away from the bullet.

The you must wish for fast reflexes. And I'm talking about government agents who find you a threat. They'll probably used supersonic sniper rounds do you don't know they fired until the bullet tears through your head.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What if I already have fast reflexes? Okay let's say I don't have fast reflexes, I shall now know to include that in my wish, thank you. And why would government agents find me a threat? All I'm doing is overdue homework and I'm certainly not telling anyone about the fact that I have this power. Also I hate to sound selfish but I wouldn't go around saving a strangers life because to be honest there's not much I could do without somebody realising that I had a power and I don't think there would be much I could do to change a situation anyway, I would however use this power to help get into a better life situation and be able to have more money available to me which I would use to make other peoples lives significantly better.

Two words: Iron Man. Preemptive explanation: Tony Stark only used his suit for good and partying. No public threat and was indisputably an asset to society. However, he was no in the hands of the government and they wanted to take the suit away for matters of national security. Now, if they couldn't separate him from the suit (if it was an actual superpower) then they would most probably have tried to kill him. In fact, since that was effectively the case, they made a suit which was meant to allow the wearer to mess him up. Say you don't live in the US, but halfway round the world. The CIA will find you an even bigger threat because you're not even American. They, being their nosy selves, will find a way to kill you when you're not using your time stop. Like when you're asleep. They have ways of finding stuff out.

Well that would make me a little uneasy considering this power would not be something I could remove like a suit, nor would it allow me to protect myself whilst asleep (and I am a very heavy sleeper) I do in fact live in Australia (however I simply applied my nations government to the situation and didn't consider the fact that another government might get touchy about it) However what about the fact that noone would no that I have this power?

Last line. Someone will notice somethings up, that you seem to have more time than other people. You only need one crazy OCD stalker enemy and he'll go higher and higher until someone is high (in authority) to know stuff about superpowers (like in Jumper) and he'll go to the CIA. Or, more likely assuming you are the only one unlike in that movie, you accidentally make a public thing, it obviously gets on the news, a CIA rep in Australia notices it and you're screwed.

Fair point I guess. I suppose you win this debate. I still think it would be a pretty cool superpower though. At least until someone notices what's up and tries to kill me/gain my power/use it to their advantage and subsequently ruin my life/perform brain surgery on me etc. (not sure if that last one would be very effective but still).

:D... not sure why I'm so happy... I will now have a huge paranoia every tiem I have a superpower dream until I/if I don't get lucid... I was kinda hoping you'd bring up a point to definitely make things safe.
