Most people begin hearing about the God of their parents at an early age. These religous stories and values are ingrained in the child. These are tough things to unlearn. On the other hand, children are not taught to believe in ghosts and other supernatural beings at an early age.

I believe in God and I have a theory that ghosts are just souls trapped in purgatory.

Part of believing in god in an organized religion means that they believe that the spirit goes to an afterlife/reincarnated/disappears, so it kind of contradicts with religious beliefs

But, if you're home alone and it's dark and there's a storm and the house is creaking, you suddenly believe in ghosts.

But it could also go opposite. Like if people believe in supernatural beings but don't believe in God because they can't see him.

Ghost stories are just that – stories. When I was younger I had a few ghost stories too. They stemmed from a few unexplainable incidents in my life and I formulated and elaborated on these stories and as the years passed and I perfected them. Then I finally decided to quit lying to myself and I don’t tell those stories anymore. I stopped telling my ghost stories to others because I now strive to be as honest as I can be and I no longer need to seek attention with lies.
