Sometimes when people reject compliments, it's because they honestly don't believe it about themselves. I do that sometimes, and I'm not trying to fish for compliments.

Keep in mind that if you don't believe it, other people will have a hard time believing it either. And if you reject the compliment, don't put yourself down. Or better yet, just say Thanks even if you don't believe it and be happy someone noticed. It's about them trying to mskr you feel good, not pointing out the obvious... or the obscure.

Yeah I know. I don't try to do it. I only realize what I did when the conversation is over, and kick myself for it. Part of it is that a lot of the compliments that I tend to reject are a surprise to me, so it doesn't occur to me to just say thanks until later, because I was so caught off guard.

I gotcha. Doesn't hurt to do it once or twice but I see some people just never stop and I see that as striving too much for attention and egotistical. Buttt I get what you mean.
