+89 Other people's votes affect us too strongly for our votes to be entirely unbiased, especially when the post has a lot of votes in either direction. It's the snowball effect of peer pressure, amirite?

Personally I only vote on subjects I already have an opinion on. I am swayed by what I know of the poster, including past posts and if I think they are serious or joking. Sometimes I wait for comments if I am unfamiliar with the subject before I vote. I don't think many people vote with the crowd, I might be wrong. I like this post and want to see what other think.

Probably more than I'll admit.

Agreed. I've done it many times.

I'm not sure if it's still an option, but you used to be able to vote on posts and have the OP and the votes hidden. It was called Blind Mode.

Yeah, it's available under "personal settings" I think. It's not as easy to use because it's not just an option on the side of the page anymore.

I don't know if it's just me, because I'm new, but it doesn't show the votes anymore until you click your pick! l

Yeah it's something that was optional before
