+225 i like to think that the quiet people are the most interesting, if most underestimated, of all of us. under the shy exterior there's a lot of underlying passion and observation. the quiet allow themselves to sit back and really listen, letting thoughts stew internally without seeking validation from the rest of the world...giving those ideas all the more meaning. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I am a quiet person and you basically got it all right:)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

:) that's good i'm a quiet person as well...it's frustrating how quickly some people write you off, you know? :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's me as well :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ahh! Me too! Also, a really awesome book to read that kind of demonstrates that, is The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I love it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Love that book!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Too long, didn't read. :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Too bad if you're the quiet kid you're instantly labled as a freak. I don't mind talking to people, I'm just too shy to be the one to start the conversation.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've found most quiet people to be insanely shy and live pretty boring lives because they're too shy to go outside and be forced to interact with people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a great book :) avgisnotsmart: maybe you just didn't break down that thick exterior many introverts put up. i think it's a shame that you write quiet people off like that. while there is that fear/shyness that we possess...we also have perceptions gathered from years of silent observation. and each of our unique perspectives are too important to write off simply because we're hesitant to face rejection, or people in general, or whatever it is that possesses us to be quiet. all i'm saying is don't underestimate the shy ones! we all have layers and layers of meaningful Self!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes, that's true. I'm quiet and I'm friends with one guy who's very shy and quiet and EXTREMELY observant. Like, to the point where I swear he's doing his work, but next thing I know, he's talking about what the people at the next table are doing. O.o I hate it so much how people think I'm a freak or antisocial or stuck-up just because I'm quiet. And the sad part is, a lot of those people who write me off are so neat and interesting; we'd get along really well. :(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

frankly, i don't know exactly what people think about my being quiet...because i'm quiet xD yeah, i've moped quite a bit about those people who put me in that Quiet Box, who'd probably be compatible with me as a friend, maybe even a best friend. but here's the problem, at least with me: i ultimately put myself in that box, by thinking my quietness is some permanent barrier between me and those i want to know. maybe in some subconscious part of me i want to be a quiet person...anywho, it's just that i've spend all that time being quiet: it's comfortable, and it's all i know. but i know that i can change. i mean, if you want to get to know those people, it's completely in you're power, you know?? but yes. people write you off, and surprisingly, the few chances you do try to be more outgoing, they sometimes won't accept it, because they've already known you so long to be the quiet one.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@lovely: That's quite deep, lol. It makes sense too; I want out of the barrier, but I'm the one who put it up in the first place, which makes it extra-hard to take down. The only reason I know what people think of me is because they talk about it in front of me like I'm not even there. :( It's quite annoying, when one day you wake up and you're like: 'Today, I'm gonna talk to three new people!' and then each when of them doesn't respond or gives you a weird look or insults you, it's like: 'DDDDDDDD:!'

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh wow. i realized that i had a lot of grammatical errors in that last reply of mine :P i hate when that happens...i read it a second time AFTER i post it, smart.... that sucks, dude. i've had that happen to me, but i think they just did that as some desperate method to bring me out of my introverted zoning-out state. yeah. a few weeks ago, i actually tried to join this conversation of people with whom i've NEVER talked to. guess what? every single one of them completely ignored me. it was so shockingly rude. most of my life i thought my quietness was my control completely, that if i worked up the confidence i could have any social life i wanted. apparently not the case??

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@181071: That's okay, grammar mistakes happen to everyone, lol. Zoning out is so much fun, especially when nobody notices. xP It's like daydreaming without the dreaming part, lol. I hate how this generation seems to have no manners whatsoever. >.< They're like: Oh, you're different than me, I can ignore you all I want. I think you can, it must just depend on what group of people you go after. Like, the tightly-knit groups are probably not the best place to go; maybe the people who don't have quite a full lunch table, or the group that seems like everyone is actually different from one another.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

psh daydreaming without dreaming would be just...day. xDD and i think there's a lot of dreaming in my zoning out, actually! it's rare to see manners anymore. Manners are an endangered species. i still hold that idea that your social life is in your control. but not 100%...there's a good lot of it that depends on the other person/people that you set your sights for. how they react and see you...i mean, they obviously have to meet you halfway sometimes

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@182908: Maybe that's what life is!! O: Hee, me too. Occasionally, lol. It depends on what class I'm in and if I'd rather be sleeping. Manners are definitely in danger of extinction. Yeah, it's definitely about working towards making your social life what YOU want it to be. But other people play huge roles too; I definitely agree with you! :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yay! :) after this week of exams school will be done with, thank god...i've never successfully fallen asleep in class--maybe it's all the people around me, and the fact that perhaps i'd snore :P how old are you? what types of classes do you love/hate?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@183065: Ugh. You're lucky. My last full day of classes is this Thursday, but I still have four exams to go to. D; I fell asleep today during a Spanish listening test. xD The only reason I woke up was because I had one of those weird jerks and it felt like I was kicking myself. xD I snore too, lol. I am 14 going on 15. 8D My favorite class is usually English, because I love the language. And I really am not fond of math of any type. And I have to take Trig next year! D: What about you? ^^

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh wow. snoring's one of my biggest fears...otherwise i'd sleep away half my school days :P my favorite classes are art, english, and history. social sciences also interest me a lot. and astronomy interests me, too. there's kind of a lot :) talent-wise though, i don't have much going for me, excepting art (more design, i suppose) and i'm a semi-okay writer (if you don't count the fact that i lack any organization in my writings...unfortunately for me most teachers do count that fact) and....i'm actually a magical ninja, so i live forever. i don't have an age :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@184407: I'm a sleep-talker too. Dx Have you ever done that? I've woken myself up by talking in my sleep, lol! Social sciences=sociology and psychology? if so, then yeah, I like those too. 8D Ha, yeah, most teachers do count that. D: I want to be a writer, but I need to be organized too! x3 Wouldn't living forever be bad? Dx

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i've done it once or twice. lmao my brother once went to a sleepover at his friend ted's house, and while he was sleeping he allegedly sleep-whispered to his talking friends, "shhh, i'm trying to get ted!" yeah, those would be examples of social science. also (especially!) Philosophy is an example, and i'm extremely interested in that :) organization is overrated. and yes, living forever would be horrible. i just like bringing it up because i like subtly poking fun at twilight :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@185261: Lol! Ha, secret ninja plans to attack your friend have failed. xD Philosophy... we were supposed to learn abut that this year. But noooo, Romeo and Juliet were so much more important! Dx I think Romeo's a twit. YES! Another hater! ^^

by Anonymous 13 years ago

in sixth grade, i remember we watched the Romeo and Juliet movie (sixties version) and the teacher fast-forwarded through a part...only to press play as Romeo was buttoning up his shirt ;) i'm just annoyed at how helpless the Bella character is. it's all about which guy she'll choose, and it's like she's nothing without a man. just a lot of bad vibes with that plot that, in no way supports girl power :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@187207: Lucky! We watched the nineties version this year, and let me just say that it is screwed up to the nth degree. Dx I'd much rather have watched sexy sixties Romeo. ;D IKR?! It's like, you know, I wanna strangle Bella. "Oh, I don't know which guy to choose, do I choose the dead one or the one that's part wolf??" Twilight: A Girl's Choice Between Necrophilia and Bestiality. (demotivational poster ftw). And I've read the books and she has some girls in there that have the potential to be great girl-power characters. But noooo, it's all about Bella and her eighteen husbands she's bound to have. D:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i've never seen the nineties version. sixties Romeo was quite the hottie ;) it's not so much Bella i dislike as the author herself. i've only read the first book though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@191595: Nineties version is Leonardo DiCaprio. He's ugly. And Juliet is Claire Danes, I think. She's really ugly. Plus, she looks like she's twenty, not thirteen. Dx It's hard to tell if Steph Meyer is a bad author or not, because she hasn't really branched into other genres, has she? Like, I wonder how she'd do if she had to write horror. 8D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ouch. but that's what it's like, that's what it's always been like...20-somethings playing high schoolers :P sad but we've grown to accept it. but then there's Ellen Page, who's 20-something but looks like a high schooler, lol meh. i don't think it matters if you don't branch out into other genres: variety doesn't make or break an author. i think she'd be good at horror, because horror has all of those stereotyped characters, and usually some cheesy romance is snuck in there

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@194528: Lol, yeah. Then it's kind of maybe okay a little. xD Haha, yeah. Mostly classic horror, though, especially since she seems to have a supernatural fetish. :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

indeed.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm an introvert and seem to only get along with extreme extrovert people ??
