you know that saying? "be careful what you wish for" you move them from the chain you mess up the cycle you mess up the cycle you mess up our cycle you mess up our cycle you mess up other cycles too potentially "...since mosquitoes perform 'ecosystem services' such as the pollination of a plant species such as cacao, if eliminated, they will not be able to pollinate and human race will not be able to enjoy chocolate." http://blogs.cornell.edu/bioee1610/2011/09/25/a-world-without-mosquitoes/ how dare you want to even think about decreasing the amount of chocolate? hehe

As much as I hate mosquitoes, if they weren't here the food chain would be in chaos. It would mess up the natural order of balance. The animals that eat mosquitoes would have to find another source of food. Whatever source they find might go extinct because they'll be eating that all of the time. Whatever eats the source that the animals who ate the mosquitoes started eating would have to find another source of food. And so on. It'll just get more complicated. For instance, frogs eat mosquitoes. If mosquitoes go, frogs will focus all of their attention on other insects like flies. If they focus all of their attention on other insects, those insects might wipe out. The other animals who also eat mosquitoes would have to go into competition for the other insects. If the other insects population decreases, so would the animals who eat them. The animals who eat the other insects would have to find another food source. They would have to be in competition with whatever food source they find, until that food source runs out. The insect eating animals would eventually run out of food sources and start going extinct. The animals who eat the insect eating animals would also run out of food sources and start going extinct. The animals who eat the animals who eat the insect eating animals would also run out of food sources, thus becoming extinct. Soon, this whole cycle of chaos would come up to us, and eventually, the world would be devoid of life. (I'm probably exaggerating a little, here, but you get my point. The order of things would be destroyed.)

Wasn't there a magic school bus episode about this? Where the guy killed off all the mosquitos, but then none of his cacao beans sprouted or something like that.
