Family always comes before a boyfriend or a girlfriend amirite?
by Anonymous9 years ago
How come you always talk about this?
by Anonymous9 years ago
No. At some point you leave your family and your girl/boyfriend becomes your family. So yes, after that happens then family (girl/boyfriend) comes before family (mom/dad/sibs)

Put whoever is most important to you first.

As a general rule this is true. But it really, really depends.

To me, my boyfriend IS my family. My "real family" sucks. My boyfriend has been the only one who has supported me, genuinely cared about me, sacrificed for me, listened to me, was there whenever I needed him to be, and actively shows me he loves me everyday.

Not if they are a long term plan. Sorry parents, but you are here to raise your children to be independent adults, and that, does not include you in thier lives constantly, as a matter of fact, you now take the furthest back seat.

Not if your family are assholes

Depends on what for. I believe in being fair...if your family does not like your gf/bf because say, they don't like their politics, or how they look or something...it's safe to say your family is being a bit judgmental. They'll either get over it, or not be worth appeasing. Of course this is a mild example...some families have much higher expectations that can make a person's dating life miserable.

I'm very family oriented so I picked tfsniky coming first but it would really just depend on the situation. I wouldn't want to blow anybody off either way.
