+33 It seems as though the older someone gets, the more they become opposed to change, amirite?

I wonder if that has any evolutionary function?

any guesses?

Might be preservation. Change often means risk.

The older you get the more time you have had to know what will work and what doesn't work. Been there done that. King Solomon in Ecclesiates 1:9 sums it up, " What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. "

I have various opinions on this, but right now I'm thinking of time dialation. To a person of 20 years five years is a long time. A full quarter of their lives. A couple of changes is this period is not particularly a big deal. To an person of 60 years five years is comparitively much less time. 1/12 of their life and memory. The same amount of change feels faster and more recent (in memory) than it did to the younger person's perspective.

I like change it means we progress and hopefully improve, but for some they don't like it.

Older people have the gift of wisdom. there is an old saying that says "if it ain't broke don't fix it

I've actually been getting more open to change as I've aged and dealt more with it. Change has always been a struggle for me.

The older I get, the more I //adjust// to change.

I'm 65 and I want virtually everything about the Obama administration to change.

The younger generation cannot thing beyone their current ages. They feel that if you are my age 70 you should be dead, and I have had many punks tell me that.

Depends on the type of change you're talking about. There's good change and bad change. I'm not gonna change myself to please society. However, I'm also constantly changing for the better. Learning more and becoming wiser.
