+200 Everybody has something going on-- whether it be ADHD, Aspergers, Alopecia... the list goes on and on. amirite?

ADD and ADHD were invented by the pharmaceutical companies to sell drugs like Ritalin and Adderall.

Preach!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No. I don't care how "quirky" or "special" you are, you can't just toss around words like they describe you. (not directed at anyone specific)

Claiming your kid has Aspergers because he doesn't get along perfectly with everyone does absolutely nothing but make it harder for kids that actually have something wrong with them be taken seriously, and give your kid an excuse to be a brat that thinks they can get out of doing anything in a group by saying they don't want to. There is a huge difference between Aspergers and just uncomfortable with people you don't know. I know I'm ranting a bit, but this one really gets me.

I'm with you. What really pisses me off too are the kids who DO have special needs, but their parents let them act like total brats because they function "differently". Like, we all get that, but you still need to TRY to enforce rules and teach manners. I know a 47-year-old mentally challenged woman whos mom played the "but she has needs" card all her life, and now she is a total BYOTCH who is mean to anyone who doesn't immediately give her her own way.

Asthma, eczema, allergies, halitosis....

And then there's people who have a self-diagnosis of OCD...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Any little thing and its "Oh, I am so OCD, I have OCD" and I'm like...no you don't. We had a whole rant about this in AP psychology before.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know, it's so stupid! They'll say they're "OCD" for one thing but they're actually a total slob

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly. Just because you decided to put your pencil straight on your desktop doesn't mean you are "OMG so OCD".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And then they use it as an excuse for everything! "um, hello! I'm OCD, remember?"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

and in my head I'm go watch True Life: I have OCD. Now those are some legit cases unlike your stupid crap.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And then when people actually do have OCD, no one can take them seriously thanks to the fakers.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I was diagnosed with OCD, and my director was making an amatuer film to enter into a festival, and some of the kids on set had needs and they were doing a newspaper interview with them and what it's like to be an actor with needs, and he lumped me in with the kids with autism. I have nothing against people with needs, but I refused to do the interview because I don't classify myself as "special ed". I've been able to function fairly well and never needed an IEP or special classes, and I felt like doing the interview would look like a joke.

I have dyslexia and synesthesia. Woot.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I actually do have synesthesia although I can't get away with stuff for having that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Seems that all this bunch of BS only affects the people in the U.S, in my class there's like one guy with tourettes and that's it..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why does everyone assume it's always the U.S?
