+76 Unregulated Capitalism and unrestricted Communism are both terrible ideas. A compromise between the two, like heavily regulated Capitalism, is the best idea, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You cannot regulate capitalism and still have private ownership, so it'd be more communist than anything

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Capitalism is already regulated in America.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Capitalism in its purest means free market operation with NO government intervention, therefore what we have in 'capitalist' countries is a 'modification' of capitalism.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Point?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah. We tried that out. It's called laissez-faire capitalism. It didn't work.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You actually can regulate captitalism and still have private ownership. Regulation just means making it illegal for companies like Goldman Sachs to gamble with other peoples money and not pay them back when they lose it.

Up vote, down vote, love, report, REPLY.

Extremity in either way is NOT a good idea. You're right, a compromise is the only option if any country wants to have a stable and successful economy.

You know what's the best idea? "FREEEEDOOOOOOOM!"

CHINAS MIXED ECONOMY!!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

China is experiencing rapid economic growth because their economy was shit before. They have a very low average quality of life and a crapload of censorship. They are also skewing things by keeping their dollar weak. But I think this response was useless because troll.

Maybe not heavily regulated capitalism, more like capitalism kept in check. Like making sure banks repay their own loans.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Just some regulation, not heavy regulation. Like making sure people can get fair pay and hours. Also, they can't allow companies to act as frivolously as they do now.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

american capitalism is simply modern day wage slavery. Shit hours, no healthcare, treated as disposable. Then the "haves" keep raking in the money their slaves make them. It is blatantly obvious how evil and unfair it is. The problem is that money=power. The "haves" can use their resources to continue the disparity.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's capitalism, baby!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

We all have equal opportunity. Not results. Opportunity. Have-nots should step it up.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Says the white female who's obviously middle to upper class by the tone of your statement. Once you're in poverty it's really hard to rise above it. If you had any idea what you were talking about you would know the struggle it is to get above the poverty line once you've fallen under it.

I'm actually an independent and broke college student getting by on Government Loans (I don't qualify for Grants and my parents don't support me), but that's okay: Don't apply for Financial Aid and try to better yourself. Just fill out the welfare paper and bitch about how the Man screwed you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yea because Financial Aid covers everything. That's okay keep being judgmental. I can see why your parents won't support you, they got tired of your shitty attitude.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm not going to lie, as a female, some things in my life has been easier, but as a white majority, scholarships are sure as hell not one of them.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That is completely untrue. It"s propaganda. Don"t tell me that a millionaire"s kid and a kid from a random ghetto have the same opportunities. They can"t access the same neighborhoods, schools, foods, etc. They can"t get business loans, maybe not even student loans. It is extremely naive and overly simplistic to the point of being offensive that people would think it is "only hard work" that creates financial success. It"s not true and never was.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I must have imagined affirmative action. Everyone can get student loans. Everyone cannot, however, get Grants (FREE Gov. Taxpayer $) to go to school. That's reserved for the "have-nots". Not to mention, free childcare, probably housing, food, etc. I never said everyone was going to be successful through hard-work. Sometimes it's just luck, skill, fortunate series of events, etc. for absolute success. The Gov. has attempted to give us all the opportunity for this though. "It is extremely naive and overly simplistic to the point of being offensive" that you just referred to the "haves" as SLAVE OWNERS. cmmmmon...

I may be many things but I am not a liar. Do you not think there is a reason they hate unions? Unions protect people. Unions get things like benefits and living wages mandated. Basically the idea is to screw over their subordinates (aka wage slaves) as hard and long as they can. Minimum wage is not enough for anyone to live on. Possibly a tiny box apt with no ammenities. Watch Morgan Spurlock's 30 Days the minimum wage episode. Or Capitalism: a love story. They are biased but also real.
