+445 If Harry can still talk to Dumbledore through the portrait in his office, it's not such a big deal that he died. He went to him for advice, not hugs. amirite?

Ohmygosh yes! Finally! I've been asking the same question ever since the book came out and no one has ever seen the reason. Haha, thanks for making my day. :P

That's not mocking him, that's telling it like it is... Dumbledore is the greatest wizard ever to have lived, but it's true that Harry went to him because of him being the greatest wizard, not because he needed him to tell him everything's gonna be just fine and give him a hug. He didn't do that, because if he did, Harry would've been incredibly sheltered and stupid, and his whole character would've been screwed up.

Except for the part where that's not the real Dumbledore, but just a replica of him. That's not the man that helped Harry all those times, that's not the man that made Harry feel safe at Hogwarts, that's not the man that Harry could count on to know what to do and get things done that he, Harry, alone could not. That's just an imitation. A very good imitation, but an imitation nonetheless. Plus, are you really basing the significance of a person's death on whether or not one person can still talk to him?
