-48 Society has gone off the deep end defending and normalizing unconventional lifestyles, amirite?

I co-sign people being who they are but social media makes it insufferable. You can live your life without broadcasting it on 10 different platforms and then complaining when that private life is now being publicly judged

by schimmeleldred 1 month ago

You put it better than me tbh

by jada32 1 month ago

Exactly.. I swear its changed in unbelievably drastic ways just from the 90s to now. Too much of anything (even water) can cause your entire life to fall off balance.. its just frustrating that no one else understands this or they just flat out deny anything that contradicts their addiction to short term pleasure.

Dawg... I don't speak German. I have a degree in history and not everything needs to be compared to 1930s Germany. What's your point?

by jada32 1 month ago

I agree to an extent. I think we as a society over corrected with the PC culture a couple years ago. I'd expect the pendulum to swing back towards the norm here. There's a book out there called "bad therapy" it's a decent read.

My main gripe is exposing other people to private stuff while gaslighting them into thinking its typical. Like in private do you. In public have some class.

by jada32 1 month ago

I didn't say you were gaslighting. Cool your jets lmao.

by jada32 1 month ago

That may have came off wrong, wasn't saying you were calling me that. Just in general I don't like that term lol

by TomatilloRich 1 month ago

Its all good!

I honestly think a big part of the problem is people confuse tolerance and celebration. Rather than asking people to accept that people may have different values, beliefs, and lifestyles, everyone is forcing you to celebrate a narrow set of values, beliefs, and lifestyles regardless of how you feel about them.

Lot of self-made problems out there

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Man I hope so

by jada32 1 month ago

Do you encounter such people on a daily basis? Is this happening at work, school, supermarket, etc? I really don't, and I live in a rather progressive city.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

The only place this is prevalent is on internet forums. Which is an argument in favor of less time on internet forums, since it gives people a distorted view of what "most people" do and think.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It's mostly on-line, but I ran into a bad group of people in my early twenties too lmao.

by jada32 1 month ago

Sorry man I don't watch Fox really. I only have CNN on my cable package and I watch it on mute while I work from home.

by jada32 1 month ago

I feel the same way about religious bigots. Keep your gross lifestyle behind closed doors.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I think a lot of stuff can be kept private and I would not mind one bit.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Agreeeeed.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Um if you're talking about cults yeah. But yeah your religion should tell you what to do, not used as a rhetorical weapon against others.

by jada32 1 month ago

What is the difference between a cult and a religion?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Cult would be an inherently exploitative group that won't let you leave. Like the Children of God/The Family cult. Stuff like that, real nightmare fuel.

by jada32 1 month ago

Dude! No! Do your research before you go there. They are definitely not Christian no matter what they say. Legit satanic and had to flee the US. Don't really want to get into the details here. Do your research please.

by jada32 1 month ago

Dude... I'm not trying to flame you The Children of God / The Family cult's inner circle SA'd a literal baby as a group that grew up and murdered one of the people that did that to him before taking his own life. They also told women their bodies don't belong to them and forced them to recruit others using sex. Their leader would marry 4 year old girls. It's legit a cult built around sexual assualt. There's a whole HBO documentary on them if you would like to know more. River Phoenix and Joaquin Phoenix grew up in that cult and its probably why River ended his own life.

by jada32 1 month ago

So what? Did they or did they not worship the Abrahamic God and Jesus?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

So what? SO WHAT? WTF?!?

by jada32 1 month ago

Lmao what does this even mean

by TomatilloRich 1 month ago

It means you should keep your lifestyle to yourself.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

In what way do religious bigots affect your life?

by TomatilloRich 1 month ago

Beyond trying to legislate their nonsense for the last century or so?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

What have the passed within the last 4 years that effects you?

by TomatilloRich 1 month ago

What do the last four years specifically matter? You act like Project 2025 isn't a thing they've been working on since Reagan.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Okay how about the last 20 years then? You are making it seem like these "religious bigots" are passing legislation every day effecting your daily life but haven't provided an example.

by TomatilloRich 1 month ago

Of those you linked only 5 have been passed and those 5 mainly deal with raising the minimum ages for gender re-assignment. That's not being a religious bigot. I think you are just chronically online and have this fear of these people who really affect your life at all.

by TomatilloRich 1 month ago

I mean its the gaslighting that mostly gets me.

by jada32 1 month ago

How's that personality disorder working for you?

by jada32 1 month ago

Could be. Or you could just be so insufferable that normally adjusted people enjoy putting you out of sorts
