Interesting! I have never paid for phones and always asked around because there's always someone who has a phone laying around in a drawer. I ended up most often with iPhone, currently iPhone 12 and iPhone 10 is my fall back phone. I had android once. I loved the Desire Z with all my heart.

Well, buying a expensive phone mostly envovled a illlogical choice, logically you know you don't need that, but still you do and many time take it on a payment plan. Now imagine you lost or break your expensive phone, and you need to buy another phone. Also another things which happens is sometimes your phone get broken because of hardware glich or physical damange and service centers make you wait for weeks while the arrange for parts. What you will do in that one week, you can take a cheap android for $150 and make your life work as nothing happens or go get a iphone 6 in that price?
