+21 Jack Daniels is awful whiskey, amirite?

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Took too long to find someone who knows what they're talking about. Everyone here has had #7 and nothing else

by pascale89 4 weeks ago

Jack Honey. Omg, I'm a total where for that!

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

All this talk of good cheap whiskey, and no mention of Wild Turkey? For cheap whiskey, I prefer it over Buffalo Trace and makers mark. Bulleit bourbon is pretty good too, I just got a 10 year version of it that's even better.

by Pale-News 4 weeks ago

Jack was my entry an I love to drink honey. Do you have experience with Grants whiskey?

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Universally disliked? Isn't it the number two selling spirits brand in the US?

by Ok-Vegetable 4 weeks ago

It sucks even at this

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

It's perfect for mixing with soda. That's all it tries to be. JD makes nicer whisky than #7 that'll knock your socks off

by Torrey19 4 weeks ago

I work as a large-scale liquor distributor, and it's a well-known fact that Jack is trash and overpriced. There are cheaper whiskeys and bourbons that are way better on the rocks or mixed. Jack and patron are two of the biggest rip offs due to buying a name not quality

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Honestly don't know how they are so popular, I've never met a single person who likes that stuff yet it is probably the most popular whiskey in the US.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

It's cheap.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Yep and when you have other cheap brands like Jim Beam or Cougar it makes JD taste acceptable

by HistorianSad9403 4 weeks ago

Jim Beam is much better than Jack

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Seagram 7 is cheaper and tastes better too.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I wish I liked Seagram 7. I can taste notes of things I like in it, but it seems to just noooot like me. The burn, the the bubble gut. Feels bad man

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Branding my guy

by Sporerkayden 4 weeks ago

It's on the cheap side, they market heavily, and a lot of young people are stupid.

by Jealous_Fishing 4 weeks ago

I remember it being inexpensive, but I try not to drink whiskey that needs a chaser now.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Its dirt cheap and a good mixer for wells

by cmayert 4 weeks ago

It also has a certain brand recognition due to it being heavily associated with 80's-90's rock/metal bands. So it looks "cool" to have one in your cabinet.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

i agree. it's gotta be brand recognition because every time we do a shot of jack everyone gags

by Thin_Principle 4 weeks ago

So, anecdotally speaking, JD is the favorite whiskey of drunk people. If you had the data, I'd be curious to see how the voting changed as the night went on. Like, what the tally was at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, etc.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Jack is, without a doubt, one of the worst whiskeys ever made. It's undrinkable. And whiskey is my go to drink.

by BalanceHot6616 4 weeks ago

then don't drink it.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I'm with you there. The way I see it, Jack Daniels is the go-to whiskey because it's widely available and cheap. Maybe not the cheapest, but well known and relatively cheap. It's the stuff college parties will use to mix with other drinks when the goal is to get drunk. Once you start drinking whiskey to actually enjoy the whiskey, Jack Daniels goes right out the window There's a few local bourbons I prefer, but for the big label brands I always preferred Maker's Mark. Particularly Marker's 46.

by Historical_Judge 4 weeks ago

Don't worry you're not alone. I've never liked Jack Daniels, Jim Beam or Jonnie Walker. They're popular cause of advertising not because they're whiskey's are any good. My go to whisky is Jameson's.

by Stoltenbergwilt 4 weeks ago

Jack Black is a great singer and comedic actor

by luigireichert 4 weeks ago

Have you tried mixing it with Diet Pepsi?

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

No, please try it with Mountain Dew!

by Tgerlach 4 weeks ago

I ain't ordering a shot of Jack for the depth of flavor lmao

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I'm with OP, though I always found Jack Daniels to taste more like dish soap oddly enough. It's super popular but I will never understand why. For the Canucks out there, a good cheap whisky is Wisers either black or white label.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Is it JD that has a strong artificial banana taste? The point of JD is you mix it with coke or something and get drunk. You don't just sit and sip it.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Wisky for who?

by Qrobel 4 weeks ago

Kirkland Canadian Whiskey, Crown Royal, Four Roses, & Larceny are my go to's

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

It's so bad. I won't touch it. In fact, because I tried it when I was much younger, I blame it for my delayed entry to scotch and whisky.

by ornthora 4 weeks ago

I like jacks and coke.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

the taste is really bad unless it's chilled tf out

by Damiankoepp 4 weeks ago

Jack isn't bad, it's price only makes sense if u go down to the really cheap stuff like Evan Williams. Also there are different types of whiskey scotch is made with smoked peat and stuff, bourbon must be aged at least 2 years and have at least 51% corn. Vs jack is a Tennessee whiskey. Old forester might be rye whiskey, so they are all different types of whiskey and different process, the price is mainly based on demand. That's why Evan Williams is cheap cause it's jack but trash. Jack honey is superior in my opinion

by Cool-Succotash 4 weeks ago

Its the least nasty American Sourmash Bourbon (just try to drink a shot of Jim Beam). That and intense marketing are why it's popular. I agree it's swill, but I drink raspberry vodka, so Im not cool.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Yes, Jack Daniels is terrible. People only drink it as much as they do because it's cheap & has excellent name recognition. If you know nothing about cocktails or whiskey, but you know you like dark liquors, and you're put on the spot at a bar, you might blurt out "Jack and Coke!" That's basically how they get all their business.

by camronhayes 4 weeks ago

it is an excuse for bourbon. nothing more.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Whiskey is terrible whiskey

by Dillandibbert 4 weeks ago

So true

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I can only drink jack when I make it a whiskey sour, AKA diluting the ass flavor down. I've heard it's great with coke, and I still didn't like it. It tastes like alcoholic dirt to me.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

This isn't exactly an unpopular opinion... It IS objectively awful whiskey

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Hence the ever popular Jack and Coke. You don't hear about Makers Mark and Coke for a reason.

by Beneficial-Donut 4 weeks ago

Yup, jack Daniel's is the bud light of whiskey. Piss water.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I've never been a fan of JD. Only had it since it's at most parties in America in your 20s. Woodford I loved that and so much better. But do you like Glenlivet?

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Up here in Canada, rye whiskey is palatable and domestically pretty cheap. Never cared for bourbon if that's what JD is but after 2 drinks, who cares? I like Crown Royal but never could stand the taste of CC or Canadian Club.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Woodford reserve is the only liquor I drink. I drink it neat, and I sip it slowly

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Jack Honey is great though

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

The only good JD is Sinatra, but it's horribly over priced. Stagg Jr or Buffalo Trace is much better than JD.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

jd honey and fire are great imo but the OL #7 i still taste it with the Coca-Cola

by Cornelius50 4 weeks ago

I agree with that discussion.

by SceneOk 4 weeks ago

It's.... Ok I usually reach for r&r (yes I know it's the cheap stuff but I actually do like it) and if someone offers to get me some as a gift, I tell them bullet. Jack Daniels... I think it's more "iconic" because it's referenced in movies and TV shows, much like patron for tequila or Captain Morgan for rum. The price tag is never enticing to me and it is nothing really special, but I don't find it offending.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

This isnt unpopular at all

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Hello fellow scotch drinker

by Magnus33 4 weeks ago

To me, the most readily-available product tastes like cheap rail liquor. They do make some higher end products, but I'd never choose the base JD over many brands of whiskey that I personally greatly prefer. No hate for anyone who loves their JD, though, tastes are a personal thing.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

i'm just glad someone finally said it

by Johara 4 weeks ago

Even more unpopular: whisky/bourbon in general sucks lol

by Formal_Report 4 weeks ago

My unpopular opinion is that, if you identify yourself as a "whiskey guy" I already think your taste for alcohol sucks.

by bayergordon 4 weeks ago

Jack Daniels is fake whiskey, that's why...

by Bennie89 4 weeks ago

*Bourbon is an awful whiskey. The fact that it is spelt with an ‘e' before you is already wrong.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Whiskey in general sucks. Prefer vodka. I actually prefer beer but that's just me lol.

by marian58 4 weeks ago

How is it so popular? Marketing, and mixed with coke. Most people have no desire to drink straight whiskey.
