+24 AirPods are garbage, amirite?

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I got some Sony earbuds and they are pretty fantastic. But I have never had AirPods so I might not know what I'm missing.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Still bad design though. Why does it need that long thing sticking out. Other brands don't do this.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Disagree on every point, but that is just my experience

by mario34 4 weeks ago

Have you ever been on the other side of a zoom meeting where someone is wearing AirPods? There's no directionality to the microphone, so it picks up the room/background and sounds like garbage.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

They literally have a setting for this to improve isolating the voice. But at the end of the day any in ear Bluetooth device would have these problems without a dedicated mic near the mouth. Like the wired ones are incredible if you need the clarity

by Professional_Tie 4 weeks ago

My Sony Bluetooth headphones have no problems in calls even when I'm biking and there's wind lol

by Empty-Dragonfruit 4 weeks ago

I never use the mic on my air pods for Teams or Zoom, and just default to the web cam mic instead

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

In my experience the normal AirPods don't fit in my ears very well, but the AirPod pros were worth every penny.

by Ill-Competition-5969 4 weeks ago

I like the pros because I can put a memory foam ear tip on them and they stay snug when I workout. The originals fall out when I move too much.

by Individual-War 4 weeks ago

I'm not a fan of the rubber piece in my ear hole for extended periods. Not just an Apple thing of course. I can use the gen 2 AirPods for hours on work calls without discomfort. Pros are definitely better for working out though.

by Creminjaida 4 weeks ago

As someone who just uses my iPhone (I don't need a MacBook, since I prefer Windows over it for basically everything), I haven't had any problems. I use the pro airpods, and they stay in my ears, connect quickly, and have good quality. I also like how intuitive the controls are. I feel like it's just a personal preference thing either way

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

this feature alone puts it way above every other brand. My €50 Sennheiser buds allow single ear listening too

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

My $20 Tozo's too lol

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

My $40 JBLs too.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Have literally never heard of this master nonsense

by QuirkyDrummer 4 weeks ago

It seems things have changed in the last 4 years. When I did buy Bose earbuds at the time (pre-covid) Apple was the only company that didn't have a "Master" earbud. I'm glad it is no longer tied to just Apple as others have pointed out.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Can confirm, the cheap $20 offbrand earbuds I got last year (for situations I don't want to risk my airpods in) can be used together or separately with no issues

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Sounds like you need to clean the connectors in the case or on the earbuds

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I've used airpods (briefly) and they felt really uncomfortable

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

AirPods and AirPod pro are distinctly different. I swore off of AirPods after trying the EarPods they used to send with phones, but the silicone replaceable tips on the pros make a massive difference. It's almost like expecting everyone's ears to adapt to a hard plastic insert is a poor design compared to malleable silicone (or foam in my case)

by Soft_Professional424 4 weeks ago

Casually ignoring the existence of the Sony XMs.

by lacy22 4 weeks ago

Sony XMs with LDAC sound so good. And the noise cancelling is amazing.

by Hagenestianna 4 weeks ago

If your furnace is so loud you need noise cancelling you gotta call someone bro

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

In our previous house, my workout room was in the utility room, so I was right next to the furnace.

by NoCommission 4 weeks ago

My experience with the noise cancellation is the opposite. While driving I find the noise cancellation of the QC45's to be way better. Aside from that I agree with everything else.

by hwelch 4 weeks ago

Yeah, I literally never heard anyone say AirPods had better noise canceling than Bose. That's bose's entire thing.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Apple fans are like professional glazers

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

That's just wireless earbuds though in general Airpods were neither the first nor the best but were just made by Apple and somewhere in between so they win

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Not in terms of sound but if being seamless is your focus then there is a good argument for Airpods being the best

by TrainingMiserable 4 weeks ago

Assuming you also have an iPhone/other apple products

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Good for vigorous workouts?

by Bodetriston 4 weeks ago

Yep.

by Horror-Reveal6363 4 weeks ago

Has some good bass? Sounds bassy?

by adrianahackett 4 weeks ago

Solid bass. Maybe not as quality as over-ear headphones designed to maximize sounds quality, but extremely solid nonetheless.

by Odd_Object 4 weeks ago

definitely not as quality as over ear headphones. But you won't get that with any wireless earbuds so I wouldn't use that as an argument against them either.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I have Jabras, the bass sound is intense. Even compared to Beats or Apple pros. But they are not cheap.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Depends on ear shape

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

They didn't even invent wireless earphones. Just stole sound engineers from beats, gave it a cool sounding name and awful sound leaking

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

They're honestly not better than a $25 pair of earbuds. Hell, I have a $6.95 set of earbuds that I got off of AliExpress that work fantastically. Apple is just a status symbol.

by Baumbachvincenz 4 weeks ago

Agreed. Bought an off brand pair on Amazon, and I use them over my AirPods

by Motor_Explanation 4 weeks ago

Bro its a pair of headphones calm down. Personally I'm giving my best invention of this century so far to reusable rockets.

by InternationalYam4162 4 weeks ago

I stick to the cheap Jlabs ones as well. They work perfectly good for the price and last 7-8+ hours at a time(without charging)

by Proud_Initial_7867 4 weeks ago

I got some Jlabs when my AirPods broke and I hated them. The controls were so unintuitive, I would constantly change stuff on accident. The noise cancellation was worse than the AirPods but not horrible. Overall for the price it would have been tolerable if I didn't have AirPods before, but after the AirPods, I couldn't handle them and had to go back

by Thieljaquan 4 weeks ago

Earbuds are garbage period. Good headphones are wired and over the ear. That being said, it's pretty easy to get the convenance of the AirPod for a fraction of the price, because let's face it, you certainly aren't using them for any kind of sound quality.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

But....but....theyre made by Apple!!!!

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I've had my pair of airpods for like 5 years and not a single part of them broke. I don't think I've ever even had them run out of battery while I'm using them.

by jorgetrantow 4 weeks ago

I've never tried. My worry is that they will fall out when I'm running. It a corded headphone does come out you just grab it while hanging and put it back. Plus people seem to lose them all the time when not in use and then spend a fair amount replacing.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Truly unpopular. I've never had a product that integrated so seamlessly into my life.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Having owned the AirPods and AirPod pros, when I had to get another pair I got the Bose quiet comfort IIs this time and the sound quality absolutely blows the AirPods away. They were like $20 more expensive but worth every penny. Fit and stay in my ear better too. About the only complaint is how sensitive the touch controls are. I like the ability to use them, but when I'm working out if a towels just barely grazes them it'll pause the music.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I use and prefer wireless beat headphones, the studios. I hate having anything in my Ears and you're right it does become uncomfortable after a while.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Are you a boomer?

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

The user experience of using AirPods is great that's the reason people have them

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Lastly, after wearing them for some time, they become super uncomfortable in the ear. Sounds like a you problem. I often accidentally wear them for some time after I'm done listening to music because I forget that they're even there

by ComparisonMinimum638 4 weeks ago

I do not like Apple products, got rid of my iPhone after 3 weeks, everything I have is android however I still have a pair of Apple Airpods, they were the superior choice a couple of years ago, might still be.

by Dantehermann 4 weeks ago

I've owned Airpods Gen 2, and Airpods Pro Gen 2. The only issue I've experienced is the device switching, but the latest version of MacOS seems to have mostly solved that for me.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Like dude, I'm using my MacBook right now, can you not connect to my phone? There's a setting in your Mac "Connect only if Last Connected," toggle that. Completely changes the handoff behavior for the better

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I don't think they are total garbage but they give me acute ear ringing so I can only use them for 15 minutes at a time. They need to do something about that.

by Top_Initiative_8344 4 weeks ago

I have never had a single issue out of the case and works perfectly.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Personally I just feel it's inappropriate walking with white plastic pieces inside your ears. Just feels off. How can they be comfortable as well?

by RelationshipThis3542 4 weeks ago

Mine work great and I love them

by dedricrobel 4 weeks ago

The difference between airpods and airpod pros is night and day Airpods ARE garbage headphones and every single wireless pair by reputable brands in the same price point is undeniably better in just about every measurable metric This is not even remotely true of the pros. They have a good case going for them as one of the best, if not the best earbuds at that price point.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Im not a fan of any apple headphones. They never fit my ears right and become painful after some time. I like my JBCs and IMO the sound better then my airpods

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

My AirPods don't stay in my ear that well. They'd definitely fall out if I used them for exercise.

by New-Protection-400 4 weeks ago

The AirPod pro gen 2s are amazing

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

From my own experience I can tell you why so many probably like them: they don't care about the microphone or connecting to different devices because they just want to listen to music for a while (but not so long it makes their ears hurt).

by Kohlerleila 4 weeks ago

AirPods Pros are the best

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

My Airpod Pros work great. Great sound cancelling and I use them all the time for video conferencing without complaint.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I tried them but after 3min of use my ears hurt so bad. I forced myself to try and get used to it but it just hurt. Gave them to my roommate and he was wearing them 24/7 it seem like. Guess my ears just aren't shaped for them.

by Frequent_Flight_6023 4 weeks ago

That's why I upgraded to Apple EarPods Absolutely crystal clear sound quality, same perfect ergonomic shape, no charging required (3.5mm) & a reliable set of earbuds that last for a year or two, in my experience wired is the way to go, superior to AirPods imo

by Jasper82 4 weeks ago

I hate to admit but they are better than the Samsung rival version. I have the galaxy buds 2 Pro and partner has airpods Pro 2 and I've used them when mine were out of battery (and still do) and they are so much better.

by TraditionScary 4 weeks ago

Really? I like them

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Sounds like you got some faulty ones.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Air pod pro 2s are honestly really good(coming from an android user) They're just expensive and fall out when working out/easy to lose since I can't track em Other than that they're a solid 8.5/10

by Any_Pianist2195 4 weeks ago

For me it's the only earbuds that stays in my ears. I legit forget sometime that I have them and multiple time searched for them while they were in my ears. It's the legit only reason why I bought them and love them.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Are you sure you're not just using counterfeit air pods? I used to think this until I realized that by trying to save $10 by buying them off of Amazon I actually shot myself in the foot and bought a fraudulent product. Real air pods ordered from Apple directly are great.

by OkSuspect 4 weeks ago

The amount of money they cost is PURE absurdity and they don't last very long... the microphone is garbage and the design makes no sense without wires. Why look the way they do? AirPods are for suckers

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I have the opposite experience in every way, but thanks for sharing

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I love mine

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I got some better wireless earbuds for $3.48 including shipping, they served me well for over a year now. Similar design, and I sometimes forget they are in my ear from how non-uncomfortable they feel.

by AcadiaThese 4 weeks ago

There are settings for call isolation, and it works quite well. As far as comfort, change the tips for foam. I do this on every set of headphones I own. Switching devices? there's a setting for that too!

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Apple is a cult.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Skullcandy crusher ANC is the single best pair of headphones I have ever used

by Vrunolfsson 4 weeks ago

Finally an actual unpopular opinion

by AggravatingWedding 4 weeks ago

Regular or pro? But apple's bluetooth implementation is broken so it doesn't really matter how good or bad the earbuds are.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

The sound is utter garbage. I can get a decent pair of skullcandys for $50 with much deeper sound quality.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I tend to agree. I'm basically "all in" with Apple. But sometimes it seems like I'm using an Android/PC-esque device with my AirPods. My biggest complaint is everyone says they can't hear me clearly. Like come on $600 headphones should have crystal clear sound.

by Standard-Flan 4 weeks ago

I don't like them because they fall out of my ears. I was emptying the dishwasher and they fed out twice.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I got some knockoff ones for 20 bucks on Amazon after blowing like 300 on AirPods for my wife and myself on Black Friday (returned them within a week)

by Efficient_Wish 4 weeks ago

I cant speak for sound quality but gen1 airpods are the most comfortable wireless earbud ive tried.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

My problem with earbuds in general is that they fall out constantly. Maybe I just have tight ears, who knows

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I heard that noise canceling headphones are bad for your ears

by Savings_Pea_7462 4 weeks ago

I can only agree that the mic is garbage. Otherwise they are solid. There aren't many other wireless headphones on the market that come with the same quality and features within the same price bracket. I have a mac mini, macbook, and my phone i use the airpods with all devices and it's seamless, the issue you have with them auto connecting is because you are using the other device. You can disable the bluetooth if it's that frustrating, to me it's a nice feature.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

And you have to charge them every 3 hours

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I use cheap knock-offs and they work just fine tbh. Nobody has complained about the mic yet. Never, ever had an issue with them switching devices or not connecting to exactly what I want them to right away.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Literally never had issues as you are describing and they are the only comfortable headphone shape for me. Anything else falls out of my ears, regardless if its adjustable or not.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I'll give you an adjacent unpopular opinion. Apple started the "detached buds with a charging case" paradigm. I will contend that two buds connected by a wire, with buttons on the cord, is FAR superior a setup than the separated buds. You can wear the wired buds as a necklace and they'll stick together magnetically You can easily use one bud or the other and not have to get out the case to store the other one You have real buttons on the controller on the cord, not flakey touch controls Longer battery life with the goodie on the cord than in the detached buds Can't lose one bud Microphone on the cord gives better voice quality as the mic is closer to the mouth rather than in the ear

by wcole 4 weeks ago

They're functional but they look incredibly stupid.

by Brekkemargarete 4 weeks ago

No mic issues here. And the device switching is one of my favorite features. Sorry you're having a bad time bud.

by Manuela69 4 weeks ago

Your inability to set how the device auto connects does not mean the product is bad.

by martina98 4 weeks ago

Air pods pro are legit though

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I'm sorry. I hope you find some earphones that work for you.

by Fast-Vermicelli-3951 4 weeks ago

I much prefer my Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC's.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I mean what is better? I have gone through my fair share of wireless headsets and the AirPods Pro's were standout.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Honestly, in-ear headphones in general are pretty disgusting, and I would highly recommend against them.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I like them

by nigel41 4 weeks ago

They are great sleep earbuds which is what I use them for.

by Creative_Ratio_9920 4 weeks ago

I've had AirPods for like 8 years. I love them as much today as I did when I first got them. I have no problem connecting to devices.

by Far-Medium 4 weeks ago

If literal millions of people have these and like them enough to use them on almost a daily basis, pretty sure you're the problem

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Unpopular for a reason

by Equivalent_Royal 4 weeks ago

I prefer good quality headphones above Apple Airpods.

by No-Designer2000 4 weeks ago

They have fine audio quality, and are the only actually comfortable earbuds I've ever tried. Me and silicone tips do not work together. The original airpod/earpod design, at least the part that's in the ear, is perfection to me. Pretty much anything else just falls out of my ear.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Your issue with connecting is something that's really easy to change if you just look in settings. Used to have the problem that my airpods would always connect to my macbook instead of my phone or vice versa but you can change if it connects automatically or based on whatever was last connected. Also, play around with microphone settings aswell. One of the main upsides of using airpods is the customization available if you have an iphone/other apple device. And you can get better ear tips, I personally recommend Comply

by Janiegleason 4 weeks ago

We audiophiles love to see people break from the norm of apathetically choosing only the popular headphones like the AirPods and the skull-numbing Beats. I could deep dive a half dozen better in-ears, but I won't waste your time. Love my Master & Dynamics though chefs kiss

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Bose > air pods all day. Sound quality is night and day, and they're comfortable.

by Adventurous_Ebb_5042 4 weeks ago

Air pods MAX- they look goofy but sound great, super durable, I don't have any of those problems.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Disagreed

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I don't think they are "garbage" but underwhelming for the price , I enjoy my wired headphones more than my AirPod pros

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

This is my opinion about Apple products in general.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I had a set of airpods, they were fine. No issues other than worrying about them popping out while running. That being said I now mostly use a bluetooth headphone set that I bought at bestbuy for maybe $30? Same level of sound quality, also has a built-in battery in the case. The only potential downside is the case is a bit larger than an airpod case, but otherwise there's no real difference. Generally I've found a lot of people LOVE Apple and a lot of people HATE apple.

by Giovanni68 4 weeks ago

Ur mom

by considineallene 4 weeks ago

I only have the regular ones, not the pros, but they're pretty awesome for my usage. Never had any complaints about my mic/call clarity. I also find them much more comfortable to wear than the earphones that have tips - those always hurt my ears!

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Wired 4life

by emmericharlie 4 weeks ago

Sorry, I agree with you, they are garbage. Just get overear Bluetooth headphones, easier on the ears, better ear canal health, and you can HEAR YOUR SURROUNDINGS still! It is ridiculous that people willingly go to lengths to drown out the world around them completely. You better have your eyes all around you if that's the case, otherwise you will run into problems.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

as an audiophile my AirPod Pro gen 2d are great.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Depends on what you're using them for. I've had my AirPods original for like ages and I almost never used them until end of 2023 when I started working my current job where I use only the right one. Lol. There's obviously better options out there

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

My boyfriend found a pair with no case awhile back. Waited for someone to claim them but no one did so we just bought a case and waited some more after we changed the name, to see if anyone would claim but still no one did. I understand why now. They're not broken or anything. They're just definitely airpods lmao. Second generation too.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

My AirPods work seamlessly between my iPhone and my Mac, if I pause on my iPhone and start a video on my Mac it automatically plays. Sounds like a skill issue :p

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

my ears hurt after wearing for more then 5 mins

by Usual_Ruin9514 4 weeks ago

AirPod pros are amazing. The noise canceling and sound quality are the best I've had from earbuds and may compete with some headsets Obviously if you want the best quality you won't want these but they're perfect for work or gym or everyday outdoor use They really mastered small but good sound quality IMO

by moenchristopher 4 weeks ago

The mic is ridiculously bad, somehow it picks up EVERY sound but your voice. There's times where people hear something that's so far from me and not my voice.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I can't stand them. I bought them due to the hype but god they are sooooo uncomfortable. I can't understand how anyone wears them longer than 10 minutes without ear pain

by baileyjacobi 3 weeks ago

The only thing I dislike about them is they always switch over to my phone when I'm on my Mac watching a video and try to look up something related to the video on my phone

by Claudine01 3 weeks ago

I've literally never had any of these problems before.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

They won't even stay in my ears. I gave up after one fell out on a treadmill and broke in half two days after getting them.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Yeah this is unpopular. I've owned every type of AirPod and liked them all. Most of my friends and family too. I don't care about the microphone quality because I use a dedicated microphone if I'm gonna make a call. But I've never really noticed a problem with them when I've used them for a phone call. I use them in the gym everyday and bring them on every flight. Love em

by addison47 3 weeks ago

Apple products in general are garbage.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

I don't like a product and so I'm going to make up a bunch of lies and hope that people agree with me!

by Dwilliamson 3 weeks ago

What's the alternative? Is there an alternative or is everything garbage?

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

The only issue I have with AirPods is over time one ear has gone to crap compared to the other

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

I have anker, Sony, skull candy, and AirPod pro's and by far the AirPod pros are the best of the lot. The mic is not great no matter what, but it's also because the mic is several inches above your mouth and around the corner of your face. If you want a good mic, get a headset with a boom mic. Or a dedicated microphone with a cable and everything. I have 2 iPhones (work and personal) and it's pretty minor to switch between phones. The AirPods prefer my personal phone (as they should), but it's like 4 clicks to change them over. The other headphones all basically require me to unpair and re-pair them constantly. My biggest issue is how my work truck will constantly force the audio to route through it even when I tell the phone to use the headphones. Audio quality I can't really speak to - I have spectacularly low standards for audio, so if I can hear the sound, it's good enough. But I have noticed the AirPods are the best at pass thru and noise cancelling. Battery life is also best on the AirPods, with recharging being stupid fast. 6-7hrs of constant use, 20 min in the case gives me another hour. Excellent. My opinion: worst thing about them is they are white. Give me a pair of black AirPods and that would make me a super happy camper.

by Carteredgar 3 weeks ago

Funny that Apple's other wireless earpods are better, but most don't know about them. The Beats Fit Pro is comfortable, with good noise cancelation, great sound, good microphone, and aesthetically better. And less expensive than airpods.

by Jackie40 3 weeks ago

Anyone who pays that amount of money for earbuds are stupid in my book
