When it comes to something like empathy, to go around proudly declaring yourself as such is pompous and off-putting. If you're truly empathetic, it will be reflected in your actions.

Someone will tell you they're an empath and then be the worst person you ever met. It's like someone telling you they're really smart or really nice and then being stupid and mean. Same thing. They tell you what they think of themselves, not how they really are. You don't need to broadcast how smart you are, how empathetic you are, what a nice guy you are, etc...if you really are.

There was someone I had been hanging out with for a few weeks who suddenly started insulting me out of the blue, and when I said something about it, he said I should blame myself because he was an empath and was only picking up on my vibes. Mind you I never said a single negative thing to this man.

Had a guy at work who constantly said this, and that he had 2 wives in an open relationship. He was an obnoxious fat cross-eyed loser. He didnt last long.

Agreed. They are just so empathetic to others feelings that it's overwhelming and so they only have the capacity to care about their own feelings. 😂

I think most "empaths" are just people whose capacity for intellectualizing the world has been severely damaged so they focus on feelings of energy. The true empaths of the world do not broadcast their capacity for emotional energy sensation and manipulation because once people become aware of this capacity it is diminished. Sensing and manipulating emotional energy is basically a godlike superpower for some people. When they come across someone who disarms it, they react poorly.

If someone told me they were an empath, I'd ask them if they were picking up any vibes off me right now. A true empath would know that I find their declaration annoying.
