I agree 85% of the time. NGOs of all kinds are mostly just leeches on society.

I would also add organizations whose mission is related to "Awareness" tend to be moneymaking schemes for their leadership.

The local food bank can feed 8 families for the same cost as the government feeds one. If this is a poor impact, what does that say about the government?

I work with many NGOs. The vast majority are either vanity projects and/or huge bureaucratic messes. Some are straight out corrupt and engaged in money laundering. Small local charities are much more effective

This isn't an opinion, it's a fact. Don't ever "round up" at the register unless you know the organization well.

No I say most because it's difficult to find any that appreciably donate more than a small fraction of their revenue. Most of these organizations are bunk, don't donate to them unless you actually research what you're donating to.

totally. you're better off taking advice from the Stoics: focus on the things around you solely, in your little world, the things you can control. Be kind and generous to people around you.
