+25 The Cybertruck will be our generation's Pontiac Aztek, amirite?

by Mean_You_7407 4 weeks ago

Must be a regional thing. Around my parts, the PT cruiser holds this distinguished position

by Friendly-Bag 4 weeks ago

Aztek is way cooler than the PT cruiser. Plus Walter white broke the windshield in his a couple times, the cybertruck has a infamous window break incident. Better analogy I think. Walter white ran down drug dealers with his while himself being a drug dealer. So I can only assume that musk will soon be running down self absorbed man children.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

man children. *men child. It's like culs de sac.

by melissabuckridg 4 weeks ago

Dude what are you smoking? The Aztek is the worst piece of garbage. PT cruiser had style

by Key-Journalist 4 weeks ago

Nothing rolls quite like a PT cruiser.

by Warm_Key_7044 4 weeks ago

I'd even say that the Aztec was ahead of its time. The crossover market has exploded since and half the cars on the road look like better looking stepchildren of that vehicle. I know I'll never say the same thing about the cyber truck.

by ferngutmann 4 weeks ago

You see a Pontiac Aztek and think Walter White, I see a Pontiac Aztek and think Dark Angel. We are not the same.

by Warm_Key_7044 4 weeks ago

The PT Cruiser sold in huge numbers though.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

My girlfriend had one when we first met and it's surprisingly fun to drive.

by Glittering-Sell 4 weeks ago

In my parts the HHR is on similar grounds as the PT

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I actually liked the look of the PT Cruiser. It's an awful car, but it looked cool imo.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Yup. I got that, and that's why I actually liked the look. I'm not a boomer but I love that older aesthetic. It wasn't perfect but I felt like it was kinda cool looking. The car itself though was absolute garbage. Not only was it under powered but unstable too.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I still think it would make a near perfect sleeper drag race car. Put a midship V8 straight into a big tubbed rear end... if I had money it would be silly fun, but if I can ever afford a project car, I don't think that will be it.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

The cybertruck is a death trap.

by Dgaylord 4 weeks ago

As someone who had the unfortunate pleasure of owning a PT Cruiser, I can confirm it was a truly awful car. The only redeeming feature was the hatchback, which wasn't even that large. I personally didn't find it cool looking and hated that I had to drive that ugly thing around in high school and college.

by abigayle74 4 weeks ago

I was about to say...

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Or the Pontiac Rendezvous.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Nah, you won't see any overqualified chemistry teacher turned millionaire meth cook with lung cancer driving a cyber truck

by Decent-Activity-7370 4 weeks ago

Still say that goes to hummers. Pointless vehicle.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Agree. The H1 was solid. After, it became a plastic pos.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

i still give that to nissan and ram drivers

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

i feel like Walt would actually buy a cybertruck

by Margarett15 4 weeks ago

Tbf they're not gonna be any more rusted than any other truck of the era, aside from the aluminum body fords

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Aluminum bad Ford Sucks mfs when their body is non existent

by Qschamberger 4 weeks ago

my dad got a magnet from my sister and the only place it stuck was on the bumper lol

by BreakfastVast 4 weeks ago

cybertruck is an apc wannabe that's designed by a manchild pontiak is driven by the heisenberg himself yeah pontiak is better hands down

by benedict08 4 weeks ago

Exactly. The Aztek suffered from being 10 years ahead of its time. Compare it to any mid-size SUV these days and it fits right in. People just couldn't jive with the angular backend when it came out. Ridgeline got some similar treatment. The Cybertruck is a shoddily-built vehicle with awful QA/QC. It's going to go down like the Pinto, not the Aztek.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Can second this. I drive a white car and if I don't clay polish and seal the paint, it gets covered in little rust marks. They completely disappear with removal, and are not the car rusting

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

All cars use metal brake pads and every time you step on the brakes, metallic clouds of dust swirl about in the air Particularly the first time you hit the brakes after a rain. Sometimes you can even hear it grinding the rust off the brake rotors. And the brakes will be a bit more grabby the first press or two, after a rain. Depending on the vehicle, sometimes it will accumulate a bit on the sides of the tire or the fenders.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I'm more reminded of the DeLorean. I wonder why that is..

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Well, the DeLorean's electrical components failed and trapped an owner inside their own car. As far as I am aware from recent video, the Cybertruck electrical components are designed to trap you inside small puddles of water. To-may-to, to-mah-to

by Maggiotaryn 4 weeks ago

Because it looks cool and can time travel at 88 mph?

by Flashy_Cookie 4 weeks ago

Cybertruck I have such a love/hate relationship with. I think it's awful in so many ways, just to be different. Eg you don't need sharp corners on the bodywork that would mess up a pedestrian. And put a clear coat on the stainless, it will still look cool. BUT I'm so damn happy it exists. It feels like 90% of the cars out there are boring mid sized SUVs or utes/standard pick up trucks. All playing safe to protect precious market share. More crazy cars please!!

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I strongly agree we need more crazy cars. More style, more cars that generate love/hate reactions. But the cyber truck is just dumb. Also, can we get a ban on white cars? Why are 2 out of 3 cars on the road white? I mean at least be honest about it and go for beige if you are that boring.

by ksauer 4 weeks ago

Fleet vehicles are often white. White is seen as the basic cheapest color. Environmentally, white has the highest albedo so theoretically should remain cooler than other colors.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Because most people buy white cars. It's not that there are not other options, it's that they chose to buy it in white.

by Donny55 4 weeks ago

White is often cheaper. I was offered $100 off if I chose white. Apparently colours are expensive. This is why so many fleet trucks are white. The corporate accountants value that $100.

by schmidtgaetano 4 weeks ago

Yes, you listed colours. Very nice! Next challenge: shapes.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

It also hides small dents/bad bodywork better.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Shown to have higher resale value,

by schmidtgaetano 4 weeks ago

I mean most of the time there's not other options, grayscale is very dominant. Go to any major brand dealership and 70% of the cars are grayscale. For white in particular, I'm not sure. I just want interesting car colors back on the road.

by Rosenbaumwebste 4 weeks ago

I get whatever is the color closest to "road dust and dirt".

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

More wood plz

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Bring back the station wagons

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

White is usually the included color, so people who don't care about color just stick with that instead of paying more. Make white the paid option and people won't pick it anymore.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

One of the major reasons is heat. White cars reflect more sunlight and therefore don't get as hot and uncomfortable sitting in a parking lot in the summer.

by DiligentEmploy 4 weeks ago

I'd rather ban black cars. Harder to see at night and absorbs a ton of sunlight in the summer, requiring more AC use.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Playing safe to protect market share = making products that sell = making products people like.

by Ylehner 4 weeks ago

Agreed, but there's unique and useful and then there's the cybertruck. This will make other manufacturers stick even harder to the current mould.

by Ylehner 4 weeks ago

I once heard someone use the term appliance in reference to a car. (Note:pre EVs taking off, so not related to that). It really hit me. As a lifetime fan of cars and a briefish stint at a car manufacturer, cars are so important to me and deciding on one I count as a major diligent process. But a large percentage of the population see it as A to B…. An appliance to do a job.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

But it's nice to occasionally see bizarre wacky projects released and it's good for consumers as a whole to have the option (even if 98% of people don't need it).

by Head-Piece-8743 4 weeks ago

Our Tesla MYLR has been good. There was one front camera service we needed, but since the car has had 1000s of trouble free miles. Maybe some other folks have had it worse, but I got nothing to complain about.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Same experience here... over 80,000 km without any issues. People love to come online to complain about their issues, but most don't do the same if their car is working without trouble. Considering a Tesla is the highest selling vehicle in the world I'd expect an even bigger volume of complaints if the quality was actually that bad.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

My experience is with folks that work at Tesla.

by Amazing_Finding 4 weeks ago

It's so close to being this generations delorian

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I nees this

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

The cyber truck looks like it's inspired by a drawing from a fifth grader from years back of the worlds coolest looking car.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

The Pontiac Aztek was my generation's Ford Pinto.

by Even_Tap_9425 4 weeks ago

Eh, the Pinto was unsafe, unreliable, and would catch on fire. I don't think the Aztek had any problems like that, nor was it particularly unreliable (now the PT Cruiser, that was unreliable, with the notorious Chrysler 2.7L V6) And while the Aztek is very ugly, I'm not sure the Pinto was particularly bad looking

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Unsightly at any speed...

by Cultural-Bake-9242 4 weeks ago

The aztek had more than minor saftey issues, like the fuel pump spraying fuel when in accidents transmissons getting stuck in drive, and of course, the infamous ABS issue, where the brakes would just decide not to work

by Even_Tap_9425 4 weeks ago

The PT Cruiser never had a 2.7L V6. Largest displacement engine they ever had was a 2.4L I4.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Jack Donaghy invented this car by combining a microwave with 4 doors.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Wheel crack this yet!

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Here comes the Fun Cooker!

by Due_Software 4 weeks ago

Shut it down.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

It already looks like the offspring of a Delorean and an Aztek, and not in a good way.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Have you seen one IRL? More like a cross between a Delorean and an APC. They're huge.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I once saw a cyber truck for the first time in real life, it was at my neighborhood Walmart, and it's really weird and ugly looking car.

by sydnee59 4 weeks ago

That's an insult to the Pontiac Aztek

by Giovannabosco 4 weeks ago

...... 'our generation'? I was around when the Aztec was part of the grand prize on Survivor.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Hey, don't insult the Aztek. It's plastic siding and small tires aside, every crossover SUV on the road looks like a refined version of the Aztek. In 40 years, only Tesla will have fielded a truck that looks like that.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Definitely worse than that lmao, I think the CyberTruck will be a laughing stock for the next century.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

It's a unibody though, not going to be doing much off-roading unless you want to risk cracking the body from what I've read.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

It has as much in common with the Hummer H2. It's a flashy truck of low utility, for needy men who will hang around a convenient store parking lot hoping some comes up and compliments it. Which isn't to say it wont sell very well initially, there are plenty of needy men with micro dick syndrome. It will quickly become point of ridicule in a year or two and they will flood the after-market. Yet another flashy trinket for the American idiot.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I was thinking more like the DeLorean. But not nearly as cool.

by boganevelyn 4 weeks ago

Oh, it's nowhere near that good.

by ally44 4 weeks ago

My friend used to have an Aztek and while it didn't look great from the outside that was a cool SUV

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

The Aztek looks downright decent next to the Cybertruck

by Dcarroll 4 weeks ago

Ehhhh. I actually like the Aztek. I don't think there's any point I'd consider a Cybertruck

by Richardbuckridg 4 weeks ago

I'm sorry but all I think about when I think pf Pontiac aztec is Breaking Bad

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

The cybertruck will be a blunder much much bigger than the aztek.

by TipNo 4 weeks ago

From what I recall of the Aztec, it was at least a functional vehicle. Stupid looking and not designed for what it was marketed as... nevermind. Its exactly like the Cybertruck.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I am convinced people don't like it because they hate Musk.

by Ok-Yak-5237 4 weeks ago

I do. It's amazing the hate of all things Musk in recent years. People liked him before he started expressing beliefs that go against the mainstream Internet beliefs. It's blatantly obvious. I wish people just owned up to it.

by Ok-Yak-5237 4 weeks ago

Id rather an Aztek with 150,000 miles on it.

by rosa70 4 weeks ago

Actually the Aztek was a pretty good car that did a lot of innovative and functional things. It was just unfortunately the fugliest thing on 4 wheels at the time. By comparison the Cybertruck is a useless piece of garbage that is as stupid looking as it is useless.

by New_Specialist_2150 4 weeks ago

Good lord I hope so. The thing is hideous as hell. My buddy desperately wants one and honestly I hope he doesn't get one because he'd easily get tired of it and end up replacing it immediately at great financial loss to himself.

by Cute_Pause_9305 4 weeks ago

No it is worse much worse

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Please don't compare it to the Aztec, that's offensive to Aztecs

by Objective_Lecture174 4 weeks ago

I think it's cool. But I get its striking design.

by Whole-Equal9097 4 weeks ago

Now now, let's not insult the Aztek like that. Put one beside a Cybertruck and the Aztek suddenly looks like it has a small amount of style if you squint into the sun.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

The Cybertruck is my generation's Delorean.

by codygrant 4 weeks ago

If only Musk was cool enough to smuggle coke and make deals with the IRA.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I saw my first cybertruck 2 days ago. Somehow it's twice as ugly irl.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Nah. The aztek was a good idea that was ahead of it's time. The cybertruck is more like a DeLorian. A bad idea wrapped in Hollywood style marketing.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Nah, the Aztek was at least manufactured/engineered well.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Breaking Bad 2 in the works?

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

for people from the united states, sure. not either in the majority of other countries

by Entire_Cucumber 4 weeks ago

It's still odd, but it definitely looks better with the black wrap

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I understand the sentiment you're going for but hard disagree, very different situations

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

It's like an Aztec mixed with a Hummer mixed with a Prius.

by Economy-Ideal3428 4 weeks ago

Saw one today on my drive to Tahoe. Cartoonish and amateur industrial design. Did Elon's kid draw it with a crayon? Really. Fugly.

by Mean_Childhood7681 4 weeks ago

Man, next Walter White gonna be bulletproof while running over drug dealers. Efficient.

by Broad-Function 4 weeks ago

I was thinking more the Edsel

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Honestly I see it more like those three wheel tricycles. Sure you can get one but if you're spending that kind of money on a vehicle why don't you get something that's actually functional and doesn't make you look like a giant toddler

by Similar_Pop5691 4 weeks ago

The Pontiac what now lol

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Our generations Delorean. Same rust issue.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I've been thinking El Camino. I don't see them around much anymore, but a few decades ago we had a good laugh whenever one would show up.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Being an old dude I was thinking Edsel.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

You guys forgot about the DeLorean already? The initial pitch was for unfinished steel and angular design. We already had doors that "go like this," and you'd never guess who helped the next time warp.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

It's literally the DeLorean 2.0

by xkassulke 4 weeks ago

How do I get my 5 year interest free loan... I mean deposit back?

by Wonderful_Western153 4 weeks ago

Use one for a back to future remake

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

It'll be our generations 8th gen Thunderbird. Memorable? Nope. Wasted cache of brand? Yep. Beyond ugly? Yep. Valueless? Yep.

by Miserable-Bit4602 4 weeks ago

The aztek was only like 20 years ago, who's "our"??

by OstrichBeneficial 4 weeks ago

It is trashier than that.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Wasn't the Aztek cheap? There is no way it could fill in for the Aztek. No where near as many people can afford one. I do think it will be a huge flop though.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I feel like the people who wanted a Tesla bought one already and now they are having fire sales on them

by hjacobson 4 weeks ago

You mean the Cyberscratch & Dent, yeah I suppose it'll be a nice rust bucket in a few years.

by gail99 4 weeks ago

Hey, the Aztek had things going for it

by Alarming-Land9926 4 weeks ago

"Our" generation? You dont own anything.

by KeyVermicelli8271 4 weeks ago

My(GX):Delorian Boomer:Corsair Greatest:Edsel

by Pretty-Spell-1881 4 weeks ago

But the aztek actually looks good

by Kozeyanais 4 weeks ago

How dare you do the Aztec dirty like that

by Raina63 4 weeks ago

Pinto didn't kill the ford brand. Aztek killed the whole Pontiac brand. It invented the concept of the crossover, which took off, but was itself pretty bad.

by ksauer 4 weeks ago

I love seeing videos of it getting defeated by sand or puddles.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I liked them when they were first announced. I see one now, I can't detach it from racist Elmo. He is what you would get if you ordered a Bond villain on Wish. The Cybertruck is what that Wish Bond villian would order on Temu.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

i liked them when they were announced but now mechanically they're horrible

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

That too.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I get why people don't like Elon, but hating Tesla is just weird to me. Like why would you hate a company trying to be better and one that actually lets you buy their vehicles at msrp?

by SelectIncident 4 weeks ago

I think in this case, the hate is on the Cybertruck specifically, not Tesla generally. At least that's how I'm interpreting it. I could be wrong.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Nothing about Tesla, the Cybertruck is the worst looking vehicle ever. It looks like it was designed by a 6 year old kid.

by Reasonable-Isopod 4 weeks ago

It was never cool

by Nelda50 4 weeks ago

Your account is three years old so you missed it, but this entire website used to idolize Musk and Tesla. This still applies to most people. Heck, I watched a Doug Demuro review yesterday where he said the CyberTruck is the coolest car ever made.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

It was an interesting concept, but concept cars don't work on the road for many reasons. The cybertruck has then got WORSE between concept and production.

by Ylehner 4 weeks ago

I always had the opposite opinion. It was so mind numbingly ugly I always assumed that the only people who liked it were either Elon Musk fans or vision impaired.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I don't recall the Aztek beating a porsche 911 of the era or being bulletproof, etc.

by Diligent-Dot 4 weeks ago

No because people actually want to drive the Cybertruck.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

In high school there is always that kid that tries talking trash to cheapen the image of anyone building anything cool. Or visibly putting in effort in the classroom or in sports. Crippling envy is a hell of a thing, not even once. The bigger the cool things no one else is doing the more energy from the envious sitting around not doing that. Crippling envy is the engine of the loser.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago
