+38 Dakota Johnson isn't any good, amirite?

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

This isn't unpopular. She has the personality of a teabag and plays the same person in everything she's in. I suspect her parents have more than a little to do with her career being where it is.

by Clydechamplin 2 weeks ago

Ricky Gervais is one example I can think of.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Oi, don't insult teabag's like that

by SubstantialMango427 2 weeks ago

Well, it's been recently discovered that many teabags contain microplastics, so there you go, maybe?

by dorrishagenes 2 weeks ago

It's hard to judge as we don't really know these people but from what I saw on interviews she seems to have a great personality.

by barrythompson 2 weeks ago

In interviews she seems much more laid back and likable. That doesn't mean she can actually act.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

True, but Buck and the other guys where saying she had no personality, personally I think she has a great personality. As for acting she never struck me as very good or very bad.

by barrythompson 2 weeks ago

I've not seen her in much, but what I have seen has not been good.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

She has the personality of a teabag and plays the same person in everything she's in. Kinda the same with zendaya, yet she's really popular.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Zendaya nailed Rue in Euphoria, she portrayed an addict perfectly. And she has a pretty chill, relatable personality.

by ottis32 2 weeks ago

I understand why Zendaya is popular (generic but not prone to scandals) but I don't care for her as an actress. I find her to be dull yet self-aware of how lucky she is to be in her position. Then again, I'm not in her age demographic either so I guess she's popular with young people and Gen Z.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Don Johnson and Dakota Fanning?

by geovany41 2 weeks ago

Correct

by Clydechamplin 2 weeks ago

Lol teabag 🤣

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

Don't mind if I do!

by AdParty 2 weeks ago

Really? Because everyone who's talked to me about 50 shades either hates it or loves it. And they never mention the acting.

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

I recently watched the series for the first time and it's not even that sexual compared to the shows out today. Everything about it was so bad.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

From what I understand it's was her Madame Web costar Sydney Sweeney a guy watching the screening before the premiere who had a hard-on for HER.

by No_Watercress3117 2 weeks ago

That's what I'm saying. Even an amateur recording of kink is better than the movie. And the acting is the worst part, in my opinion.

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

The acting is almost funny. I even read the books after because there has to be something about it to make it so popular, right? Books were also trash. The sex was so clinical sounding in the books that I got grossed out more than anything. All around not a great series.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

But when he touched my CliTOris

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

Thanks, I hate it.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

You're right2. Solid username.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Real kink is a million times better. Jussayin 👀

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

Wait… having sex in real life is better than watching it in a movie?!!!???

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I'm saying the portrayal was wrong

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

Is your complaint against an actress with no skill or a bad movie with inaccuracies about kinks?

by AdParty 2 weeks ago

Ackshually only one facet of a D5 is ever showing at one time

by imaggio 2 weeks ago

To be fair, it's bad for reasons that have nothing to do with Dakota Johnson. If anything, it made a lot of sense that she would be cast in such a terrible film, rather than a good actress whose career would have suffered.

by Feisty_Farmer 2 weeks ago

Anyone who loved 50 shades of grey lacks taste, so that should tell you plenty.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

It's 50 shades no one expects particular good acting, she fits the role though

by barrythompson 2 weeks ago

Right... I guess my point is that no one thinks she is a good performer, save for maybe some indie project that 10 people saw.

by HopefulTomato 2 weeks ago

How is she famous? Look at who her parents are.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

She's famous because she is the child of famous people. Even her grandmother was/is an well known actress. Money + famous parents in the same field = roles in Hollywood. I don't think I've seen anything she's in, so I can't speak to the quality of talent she does or doesn't have. But she's going to know how to behave on a set, how to take direction, and how sets work, unlike someone who didn't grow up in that world. And it's not like acting is the only career where that happens.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Did Madame Webb flop because of Dakota Johnson, or because it was a bad movie?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Trick question Yes

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

So you believe that another actress in that same role, changing nothing else about the movie, could make it a good movie? Who could have saved it.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I think a movie with good writing and directing, and meh acting, can be good. See John Wick. If you want to know how someone who isn't good at something can be famous, look at Keanu Reeves. But for Dakota Johnson, I think she is fine. Not great, but not bad. She did alright in Peanut Butter Falcon and Bad Times & El Royale.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I mean, Keanu's "I'm thinking I'm back" monologue from John Wick is pretty well acted, IMO. He just phoned it in in the sequels

by MysteriousBoard 2 weeks ago

I have to agree with you - the speech was great. And his physical performance as far as shooting was solid as well. But most of his line delivery was wooden. I love the guy though, id go see John Wick 5,6,7,8 and the inevitable crossover with Fast & Furious.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I'll take a look at those then

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

💀

by Prestigious-Foot6150 2 weeks ago

Schrodinger's flop

by Substantial_Date 2 weeks ago

Dakota probably made it flop less/do better with her reverse psychology press tour.

by No_Brick_585 2 weeks ago

Not unpopular. If mommy and daddy weren't who they are, she would be a receptionist at a dental office in the Midwest.

by Ok-Leopard7995 2 weeks ago

Yea I just found out, and it makes sense now.

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

She's the epitome of Millennial detachment. For some reason, people like that. I don't get it either, and I'm firmly a Millennial

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

What does millennial detachment mean?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Why is KStew catching strays?

by oturner 2 weeks ago

Because most people only know her from Twilight and not all the other roles she played. She was fantastic in The Runaways and Spencer.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

She was really good in Still Alice, and that was a very dramatic movie.

by Strict_Reading 2 weeks ago

I've never seen anyone talk about her positively.... Even her press tour for Madam Webb makes me wonder why she gets any work, since she doesn't really have a great personality either.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Dakota Johnson calling out Ellen DeGeneres was her magnum opus imo.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I SAW THAT A friend showed it to me like 3 weeks ago she really did that 👏🏽

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

Welcome to the world of nepo babies

by Cleora63 2 weeks ago

Nepotism

by Agitated_River 2 weeks ago

This is it. Its not anything else. Its just this. She would never have been in any movie if not for her parents.

by amara83 2 weeks ago

Kristen Stewart is great. Twilight was not.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

She wasn't distractingly bad in Peanut Butter Falcon. That's pretty much the only movie I've seen with her.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Yes, that and when she stood up to Ellen were the two things that let me know she existed. Kind of weird how she seems so bland now.

by roselyn13 2 weeks ago

She was pretty good in Bad Times at the El Royale, but that movie flew under a lot of people's radars. Other than that, yea not much I've seen her in. She is very vanilla, so she can be cut and paste into roles, and her parents are decent actors so Hollywood nepotism probably plays a big part.

by Crohan 2 weeks ago

This is a great analogy. Btw, I liked his performance in the prequels… and also liked the prequels. So whatever.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Idc the Ellen moment is enough for her to have my respect

by ottis32 2 weeks ago

Suspiria was excellent in spite of her, she is the only weak point of the film

by Ferryfreeda 2 weeks ago

Watch Suspiria

by Existing_One 2 weeks ago

Original Suspiria is a classic, the remake is an incoherent mess that relied on shock.

by ortizlowell 2 weeks ago

I'd actually love to go to lunch with her. Ever see her interviews?...she's a real one. She's likeable. She wasn't that bad in Madame Web. The writing and story was underwhelming but she did what she could.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I too, would like to share a meal with her. Maybe even a drink.

by pbruen 2 weeks ago

I haven't seen interviews, no.

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

Look up all the nepo babies in Hollywood, she's not the only one

by Syblehilll 2 weeks ago

She's terrible

by EducationalTone4279 2 weeks ago

The best thing she did was Ben and Kate. The rest are meh at best

by Powlowskinellie 2 weeks ago

Who?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

She is the definitive nepo baby.

by Shyann71 2 weeks ago

I don't really know anything about producing a movie but from what I've seen in cartoons and some tv shows it really comes down to the director of the movie telling her how they want her to act. "Oh c'mon Dakota gimme more emotion!" You know? but I guess they never have.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

And 50 shades

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

DDL would've sold twice the tickets though and they would've made enough for an even worse sequel… you and I should produce movies.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I've never heard of this woman til today and now I'm seeing her name everywhere. Is something going on?

by SweatyConnection 2 weeks ago

I liked her in Suspiria though.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Jokes on you, I don't even know who that is

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Usually I'd be with you. But sadly, I tried watching 50 shades and now know her face. And... legs.

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

I did not know that

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

She's very bland, yes, but not necessarily bad.

by No-Push7982 2 weeks ago

I watched Madame Webb and hated it too. It's her general demeanor that doesn't change. I'm open to being wrong. So breathe. But sure, people always find a reason to discount someone's opinion.

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

people always find a reason to discount someone's opinion. Well yes, because you just said: I only know her because 50 shades Which gives the impression that you're calling her a bad actor based on 1 character she played in very criticised movies, but I guess you've also seen her in another extremely criticised movie overall. You should probably be more open to considering how much directing and the script means for an actor's performance.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Again. And Madame Webb. Hence the: but I guess you've also seen her in another extremely criticised movie overall

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I liked her a lot in Persuasion. I didn't like some of the script/story choices, but I liked her.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Anything she's in can be dismissed. It's like watching a student film. The whispery voice, the terrible acting. Awful.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

she is a terrible actress. don't get me started on kristen stewart

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Kristen Stewart's career is a product of good PR and proof that being mediocre will take you places in life if you're a wealthy white woman.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I think she needs to pick better films, work in less films and fire her agent.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Sometimes actresses gets casted into films because they're hot

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

This is a very popular opinion my friend, she's nepogarbage

by Bahringerleon 2 weeks ago

The only reason she is anything in Hollywood is because her father is Don Johnson. Nepotism for the win!

by koepplavonne 2 weeks ago

Rich and famous 🎶"2 outta 3 ain't bad. 🎶" Meatloaf

by Ykirlin 2 weeks ago

She's famous because she is a nepotism baby. She is Don Johnson's daughter.

by Zkshlerin 2 weeks ago

She has good genes.

by dallinstroman 2 weeks ago

As for hart acting I never felt like she was either good nor bad just ok but I absolutely adore her, she seems like such a cool and likable person, I can imagine that people love to be around her and like to work with her. Plus she is a Nepobaby so that would initially help with jobs, she is also very beautiful in a not Hollywood kind of way.

by barrythompson 2 weeks ago

I can't even stand the sight of her. Probably because of that One Movie she starred in. Yuck.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Her parents are famous actors but I agree that she isn't good.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

This isn't unpopular, she cannot act.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Apparently ppl think otherwise

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

The blind and deaf?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Cool. Thanks for sharing

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

Nepo baby, for sure .

by Travisschiller 2 weeks ago

Total nepo baby or in her case grandbaby. She is so incredibly dull and uninteresting as a person too based on interviews I've seen with her.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I think your missing the very real fact that she is a Nepo baby lol her parents and grandparents are all movie stars of course she's gotten opportunities. Sometimes its as simple as that. with that said I dont think shes a horrible actress. Id even dare say she's better than Emma Roberts which is another case of Nepotism.

by Other_Animator 2 weeks ago

I honestly didn't even know who that was until I looked it up. She's sexy, but there are plenty of beautiful women out there. When you're famous and can pay dietitians, trainers, etc., being attractive isn't exceptionally difficult.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Thank you for sharing this! I'm down to being wrong and seeing her growth as an actress

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

Nepotism at its finest.

by uquigley 2 weeks ago

Maybe I'm missing something? Yeah, you're probably watching bad movies. And Madame Webb flopped. Madame Webb was going to flop. It was always going to be the next Morbius. Sony's whole "Spiderman minus Spiderman" Cinematic Universe is a disaster that no cast could save. Tom Hardy vs Woody Harrelson even flopped. I haven't been impressed with her work at all. Have you seen Bad Times at the El Royale?

by Weak_Employ2511 2 weeks ago

It's on my list now. I haven't

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

I don't think I have a four paragraph opinion on any actor really.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

She can carry a role. Just has been in terrible films. Also. I enjoyed Madame Webb.

by MammothMall 2 weeks ago

I am SO attracted to her

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

She's a walking dead zone

by FitHistorian3592 2 weeks ago

No but she's hot. there's that.

by deron89 2 weeks ago

Ok next unpopular opinion. I don't find her hot 😅🤣

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

I mean have you seen any of her good movies? Bad Times at the El Royale? Suspiria? Peanut Butter Falcon? I found when she has some attachment to the project she really pretty good. Sounds like you've only ever seen her bad movies which themselves were just bad movies, though not helped by her performance

by Fluid_Menu_9445 2 weeks ago

You are correct.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

She had a few prominent roles as a child actress, man on fire springs to mind. I haven't seen her in anything as an adult until once upon a time in Hollywood and that was a rather small role.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

It was.

by dietrichcarol 2 weeks ago

Maybe it was, tbf I didn't know there were two Dakotas

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Other than South & North?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

The unpopular opinion would be the opposite opinion. She is certainly capable and often quite good in Suspiria, Cha Cha Real Smooth and The Lost Daughter. She wasn't given much to do in the Peanut Butter Falcon but she wasn't bad necessarily. I've never seen the 50 Shades movies nor Madame Web, so in my experience I think she's pretty solid.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

This is true for Matt Damon, Chris Tucker, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and honestly about half of Hollywood.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

And talking down. Check.

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

"isn't any good" - a thing you said about a person you don't know.

by Mysterious-Back5312 2 weeks ago

Her acting. I can judge her acting.

by millerharry 2 weeks ago

Difference is Kristen Stewart can actually act. She just got a badly written character.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I'll get flak for saying it but she's white and not ugly so she's gotten tons of chances just on that alone but yes, her acting is weak as hell and I don't understand how she gets tagged for some of these movies.

by pfisher 2 weeks ago

You know what Google is?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Cha Cha Real Smooth proves you wrong.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I don't even know who she is 🤣

by Ransommarquardt 2 weeks ago
