It depends. If the teacher specifically said "Don't write on the test," then I automatically assume that the answer is wrong. If whoever had the test before me was not smart enough to follow directions, why should I trust that their answer is right?

Once, when this happened, I asked the teacher for another test. (This may make me sound like someone who always makes perfect decisions, but that is definitely not the case.)
