He's taking a nap. He'll be back. Probably angry at how much power the Saxons have but still..........

It's also debated as to whether King Arthur ever existed at all. At least in the context most people know of King Arthur.

Wait, so there are people who really don't believe that some watery tart tossed a sword at the guy and made him king of all of britain?

lol, ya but there is also an actual historic record of him but historians debate the legitimacy. Like, in historical record he supposedly killed 960 people in a battle all by himself which.......ya right.

I can totally believe a Briton leader who tried to fight the invading Saxons whose story eventually evolves into what we know today. But could also just be a mythical hero who evolved into the Arthur we know today. So it could have originally been a mythical hero who fought monsters and evolved when the enemy became saxons

there is some evidence of his existence but historians debate if it's completely made up or just inflated because some of it is unbelievable, some of it not even from the correct time period, etc. I'd buy that some random king back in the day made people elaborate tales of him in record, and over time those morphed into the mythological version of Arthur we know of now.

Just like many other stories that seem a little far fetched, such as Jesus turning water into wine or walking on water. I'm sure he just watered down the wine to make it last and walked on a sandbar.

I'm not sure that is a best conclusion to draw based on the evidence. During Arthur's reign he was respected, he government was viewed as legitimate, he ruled fairly, and so on. All of these are qualities of a good king. I think the entire kingdom collapsing after Arthur is better interpreted as evidence that a monarchy is not the most stable system of governance. As is also evidenced the ousting of every other monarchy in the developed world. Ultimately, Arthur's biggest mistake was not setting up a parliamentary system which let his kingdom fall to infighting after his death.

Not the first time; Alexander the Great's empire didn't last long after his death.
