Being with a sober partner is less fun than being with a person who is a social drinker. amirite?

I don't think this is an unpopular opinion at all. I don't drink and don't want to. I get lots of flack for it for the exact reasons you listed.

To be fair, I don't think there is anything wrong with a person not wanting to drink. I just prefer being a romantic companion who does drink.

I'm not sober but I drink so rarely, it wouldn't impact my life at all. I'd rather date someone sober than someone who can't have fun without drinking.

That's a straw man if I've ever seen one.

Babe I'm just talking about the two extremes of it, it's fine <3

Having been everything from the party binger to the sober guy I can say with absolute confidence that you can have far more fun with fellow sober people. It takes more effort than drinking, BUT the experience is often more enjoyable as a whole. 90% of the time people need to use alcohol in social settings as a handicap or a crutch to enjoy themselves. They need it to loosen up. If you can do that while sober AND have a game plan for the day? Absolutely fantastic! That being said, alcohol is definitely a cheat code to having a more enjoyable time if you're in a situation or setting where being sober wouldn't otherwise be enjoyable. But personally, I often choose to not participate in those scenarios

If I really like spicy food and my partner doesn't, it can cause an issue when eating at home or even going to restaurants. It's far from insurmountable. If you like a nice drink, it's also nice to share with your partner, sure. This bit about being 'less fun' though, sounds a bit ridiculous. If drinking, getting drunk and everything associated with that is such a big part of your life that your partner not joining in with you is such a big problem, it perhaps says more about you and your attitude to drink.

You mean when you're also drinking, right?

Sounds like a budding alcoholic.

Cause alcoholics drink only socially? lmao.

If you need alcohol to enjoy socializing, you don't enjoy socializing. You enjoy alcohol.

I'm not saying you need all the time or even most of the timeā¦. But none of them? Not my thing. Again, if you don't drink, you aren't a bad person.

it's more fun than being with a person who pisses the bed.

I can think of nothing more fun than watching my partner's alcoholism spiral out of control because not drinking is "not fun." Liver failure, mood swings, DUIs, sounds like a BANGIN time. /s

I mean I'd judge a partner based on their actual personality and not just if they drink or not.

No. My partners likes a drink, and I attend things with her where alcohol is served all the time. I oppose drinking only for myself.
