+29 In Basketball, any points during the game should get the same praise as the game winning buzzer beater. amirite?

Because the domino effect doesn't matter if the last domino fails to fall, ie you lose.

This unnecessarily vague and philosophical. What you are saying is that all those 90 points don't matter had not been for that your last shot. Which means that Joe's 15 points in the first quarter were useless.

"you are the biggest hero (...) because it was YOU who won the game." Yes, exactly. If it's tied, then effectively it's 0-0 - so the only point that matters in and of itself in terms of winning the game is the winning point. People have been waiting the length of the game (or even longer) to see who wins and are hoping it's "their" team, so it makes sense that they would get more excited when something like that happens than when someone makes a basket in the middle of the game. I don't even watch sports and am very critical of things like loyalty to local professional teams and even I understand this.

Lol, yeah I completely understand this and I am excited for these moments too. I'm a basketball player myself. But it is just unfair for all the players who put all the points before you. As if it didn't matter. Because if they didn't score those points, it wouldn't be "0-0" at the end as you say.

What's the point here?

Teams celebrate the game winning score. Conversely, the losing team can say they lost the game well before it. That's sports.
