Americans begging to be abused by their government is making it hard on the rest of the world, amirite?

The rest of the world begging for America's military and political protection is making it hard on America.

They like to ignore that part

That's a good counterpoint.

We fund free healthcare for Israelis but not for our own citizens. Too busy paying for their genocide in Gaza and keeping Russia from destroying Ukraine to be able to find social initiatives here.

US-based multinational corporations lobbying government to shift the majority of taxes to the citizens is making it hard on America. I'm sure the $4.5 trillion bank bailout of 2019 isn't helping either.

There wasnt a bank bailout in 2019, and 4.5 trillion is almost the entire federal budget. What are you referring to?

In fact, the US government made net money from bailouts being paid back like what happened during the Great Recession.

… "Susie letting Billy beat the crap out of her every night is an affront to women. Now a bunch of husbands in her neighborhood are starting to think they can be controlling and abusive toward their wives. How dare Susie get abused! She should just leave him!" Consider blaming the abuser instead of the victims. The wealth elite corporatocracy is to blame. The rest of us want universal healthcare, pensions, holidays, etc.

You think Americans don't want those things? Also we're not even in a war, what are you talking about? It's not our fault if your government decides to treat you poorly

Sigh. "Free" healthcare isn't free. It's taxpayer funded, and gives the government total control over your healthcare. Calling it abuse to NOT have that seems odd, the government isn't your parent

It's not free, no, but universal healthcare is infinitely preferable to what msot of us have now. I know this because I got on Medicare a year or so ago. That's not free, either. I pay $160 a month for basic Medicare, plus another $300 for supplemental insurance and an Rx plan. (Most Advantage plans are way cheaper, but this was a better fit for me.) My total deductible is around $300 for everything, including Rx's. (And yes, I know Medicare is also taxpayer-funded. I was glad to contribute for my mom's generation.) Before Medicare, I was on a plan with a $5,000 deductible--pretty typical--through the Marketplace. And thank heavens for that. My only other choice would have been a COBRA plan--$2,000 a month. The government does NOT have total control over my healthcare! In fact, it has NO control over my healthcare. Medicare has a few restrictions, like you can't get a facelift or liposuction. It's not perfect, but it's way, WAY better than the insurance I had through my employer before I retired. Oh, and you know who fought hard to convince people UHC would be bad for us? Health insurance companies. They spent BIG bucks on ads to convince people of lies like the government would have total control. Having dealt with health insurance companies my entire adult life, I can tell you they're not your friend.

The problem is going single-payer, and at this point, healthcare makes up 1/6 of the US economy. You can't just switch to single payer, universal healthcare without a complete economic meltdown. The best you can do is slowly ease into one over a few decades.

Anything worthwhile would be done better and more affordably without government involvement. Or you can keep going back to Daddy Government because even though he abused you, you think that deep down, that's just his way of saying that he loves you.

Profit incentive is a terrible idea for many services. I don't think y'all wanna see what a world without a government at least nominally ‘of the people, by the people, and for the people' looks like.

I don't know, I don't hear politicians complaining about their government health care plans, retirement plans or any of the other perks they keep for themselves.
