-25 Theater and cinema tickets are worth no more than $5 nowadays imo, amirite?

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

Do people not tell loud people in the theater to shut up anymore. I've never had to say it more than twice.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I do, helps that I'm tall, fit, and covered in tattoos though. I can imagine a less physically intimidating-looking person might not find the same tenacity

by Dangerous-Bass 1 week ago

Dude. In some places in NYC the tats would be an invite to have 10 guys knife you if you brought attention to yourself. Totally not worth it.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I do shush people sometimes, I've had people straight up ignore me though maybe cuz I'm a 5'2" woman 🥲

by Zellaromaguera 1 week ago

People gotta realize that us short people are more likely to go feral.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

ppl wanna fight you nowadays lol

by Horror-Second3930 1 week ago

I do address rude behavior during shows, but it's wearing me out. Nobody cares anymore.

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

yeah. it starts a fight that ends in the parking lot. great night out.

by Shot_Solution 1 week ago

I agree with a lot of your points. The rare times I do go to movies now I tend to do matinee times weeks after the movie came so there are few people around if any.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

This is probably the best solution. People today are so self-centered and rude. I avoid them if possible.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

They are worth exactly as much as people are willing to pay for them.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Op is right then since movie attendance is on the decline.

by Dangelo29 1 week ago

He is not right about $5. He *might* be correct that the movie tickets are more expensive than people are willing to pay, *because* movie attendance is on the decline.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Let me think about it: $4.99

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

Are you "the people"?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I get your point. $3.99

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

...and a free escort for the night?.. Good thinking.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Here we go.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

go to a weekday showing at 11 AM. you're the only one there and it's cheaper

by Anonymous 1 week ago

If you're still going you're basically admitting they're worth what you're paying. If it was only worth $5 you'd only go if it was $5.

by Pristine-Slide5357 1 week ago

I'm cutting down on shows big time. Give me a theater that actually kicks out rude people, and I will take my money there. But they don't exist.

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

I kind of agree- but I absolutely love the local family run theater in my town, and I know they are still struggling. It's remarkable Covid didn't sink them, and now it seems like nobody ever goes there anymore (every time I go there I'm alone), So I kinda don't mind paying it. I'm not sure cutting the price of admission would help them get more traffic, and I'd really like to see them keep the lights on because their theater is basically a historic landmark in the town now.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I will patronize it for up to $5 if I'm in town

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

You should do what I do: go to weird movies that no One else is Al!

by Beneficial-Act 1 week ago

Bold of you to assume they ever were worth more than that

by kankunding 1 week ago

Sorry... 🤓

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

That's why you go to a premium theater like the Alamo Drafthouse.

by Roselyn83 1 week ago

I've been there. Chatter and people using their phones. They do notice the light you lit when summoning the waiter for ordering food though.

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

Well then that's your issue if you aren't calling your waiter over to handle it. They even let you do it discreetly. It's their policy, you get one warning and then you're done. Most of the waiters are teens so I am sure they are uncomfortable going up if they don't absolutely have to. I am also pretty sure it's a manager that is supposed to go. The last time I was there someone brought in a crying 3 year old, I complained AND I was given two free tickets for my trouble.

by Amazing_Fun 1 week ago

I have raised cards already in the past. Very uncomfortable and not my job. I just want to enjoy my movie.

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

Bring back fire in the hole

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Making them cheaper would only incentivize people with trashy behavior to go more

by Corteznader 1 week ago

I used to go to the movies all the time but now I mostly stream them. Concessions have become so expensive too. You can make popcorn for $1 at home

by No_Parfait_8486 1 week ago

Saw Civil War last week, there was a couple in the very back talking...it's just annoying. Why pay $30 to talk??

by FuzzyFood7367 1 week ago

Tuesday are 6 bucks which is fine for me. I remember this struggle while watching quiet place

by Shoddy-Relative-7651 1 week ago

What about "The silence of lambs"?

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

I never pay for movies. I go for free (with a monthly fee lol)

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I miss the Moviepass bonanza

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

I pay 19.99 for regal unlimited. Gonna see Cinderella revenge and That tennis movie where zendaya gets tag teamed this weekend

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Theaters are dead in general, just gather with friends privately to watch a film, you control the atmosphere in every aspect that way.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I go to the movie theaters that are 21 and older only, then only mildly annoyed

by Slight_Union 1 week ago

Movies are free as long as you know the right person. Either a friend who's already going to open a door Or A person who's working there. Either way just check 5 min in advance to see which seats are open and stroll in like you belong.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

"Everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it." As long as people go to the cinema and pay those prices, then that is what they are worth. Value is not something inherent to a good or service, but rather something ascribed by the marketplace of consumers. You are contradicting yourself when you buy the ticket and also say its not worth the price you paid; the act of purchase is you agreeing to the value proposition.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Sometimes you just hope things get better, just to get disappointed again.

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

I pay 5 eur for cinema tickets so yeah I agree

by Farrelljayden 1 week ago

I can't remember the last time I had an overly distracting experience at the theater. Either you're overly sensitive or lying. There's a reason you think this is an unpopular opinion.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Home theater?

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

Not unpopular. I had enough of theaters way back in 2003, and I never went back. Just too much damn drama, people who have zero consideration for others. I don't blame the people who work the cinemas, they make very little and I would never expose them to harm by complaining about some asshole - I simply leave.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I think I've once ever had a bad experience in a movie theater. Not that I go too often, probably 1-2x a year. When I do I splurge for the AMC with the recliners, worth the $15 imo

by Erika55 1 week ago

I think you're discovering one of the two major reasons theatres are dying. Not a lot of people want to pay $15 for a ticket then another $25 for a popcorn combo only to sit in a theatre full of potentially uncaring and distracting people. My theatres biggest showings have like, 5-6 people in them. And I live in a very densely populated area.

by PsychologicalItem867 1 week ago

So the same it's always been?

by destinee09 1 week ago

I saw Monkey Man last night, at the late show, and this family bright their kids. Their son couldn't have been older than 4yo. He was basically wailing and screaming etc the whole time.... but how the F is a 4 year old in a rated R, extremely violent movie like that???

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Tuesdays at my local cinema are pretty cheap days lol. I usually go during the day if I can because it's cheaper than weekends. Even so, id prefer to wait until it pops up on some streaming service. Also, my local cinema will remove you from the theater if your phone is on.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Weekdays and only if I can reserve my seats.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Most theaters do have $5 tickets on Tuesdays.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Yes, lowering the cost will keep out the annoying people who don't take cinema seriously... /s

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I only go infrequently, it is pricey but i cant say ive ever had any issues with other patrons behaviour. Maybe we have nicer cinemas around here.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I go to the morning shows on weekdays when people are at work and kids are at school. Usually just me a few older people. Plus it's half price!

by Eldridgecorkery 1 week ago

Time to invest in your own home theater. Even budget Klipsch Dolby setups these days sound better than most real theaters. It's much easier to fill a small room with quality sound than a large one. You will also always be in the center position of all speakers. The only thing you can't get is IMAX. But I don't miss it. Being able to sit in a quiet room with quality sound and a large 4k tv is good enough for me.

by Grouchy-Bee-4351 1 week ago

If I had to choose between this dimension of reality, and a parallel one where IMAX doesn't exist but people are respectful, I would jump in the portal immediately.

by ComfortableFar8697 1 week ago

People always say this, as though 'stay in your house and buy yourself more stuff' is the answer to everything.

A walk in the park will do too
