-28 Have $20 as a kid feels rich, $100 as an adult you feel poor, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Because you don't have any bills or expensive things that you want as a kid

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Nor a real concept of the value of a dollar.

by Alternative-Log 1 week ago

yea cuz when you were a kid 20$ could buy a month worth of snacks whereas today 100$ is barely enough for two people to live off of for two weeks

You spend $1200 a month on food, gas and other amenities? I hope the other amenities is like insurance, electricity, water bills cause god damn

It sounds about right. What would be a reasonable amount to you for 2 people to spend on food, gas, amenities per month?

by brakusgiovanny 1 week ago

I have a hard time believing that covers all your expenses. $900 for two people is $15 a day per person, which you say includes gas. A V8 Lincoln Town Car gets 19 mpg so giving you the benefit of the doubt with a short commute, say 20 miles round trip, that's about a gallon a day at an average of $4 right now. So, that leaves you $11 to feed yourself 3 meals per day, every day, 30 days a month. I have a hard time believing that. Not being mean, I guess what I'm saying is that if true, teach me your ways, because we're at close to $2000 a month for basics, though our commute is significantly further.

I'd be lucky to get through one week for a hundred by myself.

Yeah and even back in 2019 when I first got my car, $20 was enough to fill up my tank from 1/4 full.

Even having 1000$ to spare doesn't seem much anymore

I have $20k in savings and it doesn't feel like much. A major issue with my vehicle could easily take that down by 1/4 or even half.

Very true I have about 10k , my whip paid off but any moment anything can go wrong

by reillykirstin 1 week ago

Speak for yourself, I feel rich having $100 that can be spent however I want to

More responsibilities which that 100 has to go to.

I feel rich when the number in my bank account is black instead of red.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Having $1000 in the bank doesn't feel like a lot. Owing $1000 feels like drowning.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

probably not even anymore. you cant barely buy a good book for 20 bucks now. when i was a kid (2000s so not very long ago) a 20 got me snacks and soda for up to a week. now 20 bucks could get a kid snacks and soda for up to a day.

Because $20 back in the 90's was a good amount of money with options. Now, $100 can barely get me a decent nerf gun.

I remember having €50 euro back in my childhood and were able to one of the grandest Lego sets ever, but now.. I can barely afford playing video games without having to spent 1/10th of that to access the entire game.

One of the earliest lessons people learn as an early adult is $1000 is not enough to have but it's a lot to spend.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

lol I'll take $100 please

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Especially when the only family member I can afford is an Eva AI virtual girlfriend in an app
